Skrillex has released his first new single of the summer, ‘Fine Day Anthem’, alongside fellow DJ/Producer and collaborating partner Boys Noize. The duo recently previewed ‘Fine Day Anthem’ during their last minute B2B set in Berlin. Additionally, Skrillex, Fred again.. and Four Tet’s unforgettable headline set at Coachella 2023 previewed the track for the attending fans as well.

The ‘Fine Day Anthem’, out now via OWSLA/Boysnoize Records/Atlantic, comes as the first collaborative banger that Skrillex and Boys Noize dropped together since their Turn Off The Lights EP back in 2019. Also, ‘Fine Day Anthem’ is not a part of Dog Blood, Boys Noize and Skrillex’s popular side project. The duo of Skrillex and Boys Noize have built world-class reputations for themselves as innovative, trend-setting electronic dance music producers. There was no exception was made when it came to the stylistic choices for the cover art for ‘Fine Day Anthem’. Created by digital artist Thomas Harrington Rawle the cover art drew inspiration from 90’s rave photos, with an original piece of artwork created using both studio photography and manual digital painting.

Furthermore, the production for ‘Fine Day Anthem’ is melodic and contains with spectral, crowd-gathering vocals slicing. Afterwards, the vocals made their way eloquently through a hyperactive house drop. It is no surprise that Skrillex says the track has been a staple in his DJ sets for the past year. With the release of ‘Fine Day Anthem’, it is going to be a summer jam that fans can blast on repeat without any worry.

There will be more amazing music coming from Skrillex

Skrillex first teased ‘Fine Day Anthem’ on Instagram back in May. What he shared was a snippet of the single as part of a carousel post and he tagged his fellow collaborator Boys Noize in the caption, along with other likely album collaborators such as ISOxo, Flowdan, PEEKABOO, G-REX, Hamdi, zeina, Miss Lafamilia, etc. The release of ‘Fine Day Anthem’ continues what looks to be an awesome 2023 by Skrillex, especially since he released two albums, Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close, respectively within a couple days of one another.

After teasing about ‘Fine Day Anthem’, Skrillex also did the same in regards to two more upcoming albums later this year. On a tweet from April 19, Skrillex posted “QFF, DGTC, SKRLX, CONTRA, 23”. “QFF” and “DGTC” are the acronyms for the aforementioned Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close that he already released earlier this year. As for “SKRLX” and “CONTRA”, no details have been announced about them yet.

This wouldn’t be the first time that two world renowned producers have worked together. Back in 2017, they collaborated on an HOWSLA house music compilation. You’ve definitely heard some tracks from it; it features the iconic ‘Chicken Soup’ which features Habstrakt.

Individually, both producers have been busy on their careers post-pandemic. Just last week, Skrillex put out a new track, ‘Supersonic (My Existence)‘, with various other artists that include Noisia. And, just today, Lake announced that he will be performing with Fisher at the Denver Coliseum Outdoors. The b2b will take place on Saturday, August 14. Tickets go on sale soon!

In case you are wondering, the song is far from the usual aggressive-heavy-bass-crazy-sounding type. However, it definitely feels good. Skrillex has shown over the years that he is not afraid to try some new things. Always experimenting around the large spectrum of subgenres, he continues to innovate with the release of ‘Butterflies’. Indeed, the track is melodically strong and bouncy at the same time. The combination of Skrillex’s ability to create amazing vocal chops with Four Tet’s melodic elements blends perfectly with Starrah. Altogether, ‘Butterflies’ sounds refined and clean.

Apparently, the track has been a year in the making. Four Tet explained the process behind ‘Butterflies’ on an Instagram post.

“We made most of this track in February last year while I was in LA and then in the last few weeks we got the arrangement and mix right”. He also talked about the appreciation he has for Skrillex’s work. “Working with Sonny and seeing his cosmic level Ableton skills in real time has been amazing and huge respect for how crazy good he got the mix sounding. So much detail went into this one. Feels so good to have it out there.”

The Boycycle EP is his first release following ‘Horse‘ in 2019. The title song, ‘Boycycle‘ continues Salvatore Ganacci’s theme of fantasy. If you remember, the ‘Horse’ music video featured him driving around in a shoe while donks played in the background. Well, ‘Boycycle’ isn’t any less weird. The music video is about a human motorcycle (boycycle) and he wants to find love. The ending is quite hilarious, but I won’t spoil it so you can watch it for yourself by clicking here. Also, ‘Boycycle’ features vocals from Sébastien Tellier. If you miss the donks from Horse, don’t worry because ‘Heartbass‘ is a donk banger. This record features vocals from Tommy Cash. Salvatore Ganacci actually played this record together with Tommy Cash on the Tomorrowland mainstage in 2019. The final song, ‘Interest in Sport‘ is a groovy house record with a touch of Salvatore Ganacci sounds.

Overall, Boycycle is fresh and top quality. Salvatore Ganacci showed his versatility by putting out an EP with three different genres on it, and even a few different languages. ‘Desert Trash’ is a deep song with an intensive message. The producer incorporates acoustic elements with her delicate voice to create a powerful sound. You can hear the raw emotion in her voice as she describes the feelings of loneliness and isolation, creating a metaphor with the desert. Furthermore, the instrumental portion of the track captures your heart with an eerie melody. As you can see in the official lyric video below, the environment they chose for the shoot mirrors the atmosphere of the song.

As an adopted child growing up in Los Angeles, Sonny Moore had been a firsthand witness to the expression outlet that music can provide. Flash forward to 2019 and Skrillex has become one of the most renowned producers in the industry. However, his determination to inspire positive change in the world remains just as fresh as it did before the fame.

Today, Skrillex shares exciting news on Twitter, announcing that a new music production school has officially opened in Langa, Cape Town, South Africa. It’s a project he’s been hard at work on for years.

Skrillex first began working on the vision in 2012, when his label OWSLA partnered with ‘Bridges for Music’ charity. Since then, hundreds of events, meet and greets, and performances have been curated to raise money for the school’s construction. Additionally, funds collected from his Full Flex Express tour went directly toward the planned school. In 2015, he even donated equipment to the charity’s music program.

“In 2012 we started building a music production school Langa South Africa with @bridgesformusic. its 2019 now and the dream is alive,” he tweeted. Through the power of hard work, Skrillex has turned a vision into reality, inspiring a life-changing legacy through music.

By that, we can most likely expect it to be “Midnight Hour,” which was leaked a couple days prior. Skrillex tweeted that it was coming out next week.
