We said ‘Oui’ to Techno at Main Square Festival

Main Square Festival
France is always a good choice. Its beautiful landscapes, architecture and history, make this country the preferred option for those who are looking for some busy holidays in the old continent. But France is much more than that, and when it comes to music, french people have the finest taste.

Over the last weekend, EDMTunes had the chance to be a part of Main Square Festival, an eclectic music event taking place at an ancient citadel in Arras, right in the north of France. During 3 days in july, this usually small town gets flooded with visitors from different parts of the world (mostly from Belgium, we must admit), and Live Nation takes care of the rest: the best artists (Depeche Mode and Jamiroquai among others), an incredible soundystem and more than 120,000 people sharing the same vibes.

Techno and Electronic Dance Music had a preferred timeslot during Main Square, closing each night with our favorite Euro-stars. Paul Kalkbrenner, Boris Brejcha and Justice, were there to wrap up each day with remarkable performances. We wanted to give each show a rating, but since the 3 of them were flawless, here you have a synthesis of each one instead:

  1. Paul Kalkbrenner

Not even 2 months ago, Paul released his latest production, Parts of Life. During his hour an a half set, the Berlin based techno giant played almost every tune from his newest album, as well as some of his now classics such as Sky and Sand and Feed your Head.

2. Boris Brejcha

What can we say about Boris? His set was totally epic. Tracks like Gravity made the crowd feel weightless in their spots, and when he played Purple Noise it was definitely the highlight of the night.

3. Justice

Another spotless set from the french duo. They started off with Safe and Sound, and slowly took everyone on a journey through the universe. Other hits such as Stress and Genesis were part of their exquisite musical repertoire.

Main Square Festival was a total blast. And now that France won the World Cup, we are eager to see what the next edition of this festival will be, from July 5 to July 7 2019. Visit their Facebook and official website for more info!
