Tracks 1-5

‘Here’s The Drop’ kicks off with Morgan Page remixing ‘imaginary friends‘. Morgan opted for a plucky and pulled vibrant sound allowing the orchestral elements to remain underlying. From there, Tinlicker deliver a more spacious sound on ‘luxuria‘, combining their style while giving the original elements their own space. Right after, Gregory Reveret turns down the energy with a calming remix of ‘coelacanth‘. Specifically, the production focuses on an ambient energy infusing light percussive elements. Rinzen then strikes with his moody and percussive remix of ‘acedia‘ marking his second official deadmau5 remix. Trailing, Seismal D takes a deep tone on ‘avaritia‘ emphasizing filtering bass synths with delicate bubbling leads.

Tracks 6-10

Up next on ‘Here’s The Drop’ is Sian‘s delivery of a pulsating remix of ‘monophobia‘. Notably, it utilizes the orchestral parts significantly less than previous remixes as the producer focuses on his own sound. In continuation, Pig & Dan infuse their rhythmic techno sound with harmonious orchestral breaks. This provides a melancholic contrast on the production within their remix of ‘gula‘. Being one of the standout remixes, No Mana puts an exceptional spin on ‘invidia‘. The remix transitions phases through a warping glitchy cut pushing into an alluring scaling piano. Overall, the cuts warping the remix through the original and new elements provide a striking uniqueness. Siding by it, Mad Zach arranges a padded remix for ‘unjaded‘. Crunched pads, leads, a bottoming bass and minimal percussion show a progressive pulled sound. Following, Gallya spins break-beats with acidic-esque synths and a punchy percussion on ‘ira‘ topped by a succeeding lead.

Tracks 11-15

Going into the final 5 tracks, Spencer Brown‘s previously released remix of ‘fn pig‘ takes its turn. Moving from that, Mr. Bill stands out through his remix of the beloved ‘hr 8938 cephei‘. On it, the producer accentuates the contrasting eerie breakdowns and his prominent glitchy sections. Showcasing what might be a favorite on the record, Matt Lange gives us a remix of ‘superbia‘. If you’re not familiar, Matt commonly works around orchestral and live elements, so it comes as no surprise that he did an outstanding job as usual. The remix offers a magnetizing feeling with the compelling orchestral elements drawing us in as the percussive side provides movement. Onwards, Dom Kane puts an infectious and dancey spin on ‘caritas’ while maintaining orchestral euphoric breaks. Concluding ‘Here’s The Drop’ is none other than PEEKABOO a remix of ‘Strobe‘. The production clearly keeps the source material close to heart.

Deadmau5 – Where’s The Drop

It is no secret that Deadmau5 is quite the audiophile. Earlier this year he released his groundbreaking album, ‘Where’s the drop‘. The album saw the Mau5 recreate his biggest hits in orchestral form. The album was also paired with two live events. As we all know, the music was produced by Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5. What many don’t know, is that the orchestral renditions were composed by Gregory Reveret.

The album was initially released as a TIDAL exclusive. This meant it would be available as lossless audio data. This would allow listeners to hear the music just as its creator meant for it to be heard. By releasing ‘Where’s the drop’ as a TIDAL exclusive, this left the rest of the world waiting. It goes without saying that this definitely angered many fans.

It didn’t take long for word to reach Deadmau5, as the the Canadian DJ & record producer reassured us all that the album would be available through other streaming platforms. Yesterday, deadmau5 finally announced the impending release of his new orchestral album, titled where’s the drop?”

The album will finally arrive on March 30th and will feature seventeen tracks. The highly anticipated album will broadcast the Canadian producer’s music, including “Strobe“, “Invidia“, and “Avaritia“, re-imagined by musical director, Gregory Reveret.

However, this announcement is bittersweet because the album will be released as a Tidal exclusive on deadmau5‘s mau5trap imprint.

He goes on to say that releasing an album exclusively through a streaming service is “not a new concept”. Fair, it’s not. But why not chose a more popular streaming service to broadcast your album on?

Joel Zimmerman has teased the highly anticipated remix before, and recently tweeted about “seriously the most epic thing” he’s ever done with his music, something to do with a 60-piece orchestra. We seriously can’t wait for the release of that project.

Cube 0.5 is the latest of deadmau5’s high-tech stage productions. First there was the Cube (referred to as 1.x by fans), then Cube 2.0 and the enormous Cube 2.1. The footprint of 0.5 is actually small enough to fit in Zimmerman’s basement, and is much more suited to travel, especially overseas.

Thank you YouTuber Wanza7 for letting our minds run wild. Today, he or she uploaded a 37 minute and 45 second preliminary showing of Deadmau5‘s orchestral mixes vault.

Earlier this month, Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5) tweeted about an “epic thing” he was up to. Sneaky sneaky Goat Lord. Users @cubertmaster and @_shypho_ speculated, and Zimmerman delivered; Mau5 divulged that larger-than-life undertaking came complete with a 60 piece orchestra.

On Dec. 13, Wanza7 posted the clip that was heard ’round the world, entitled ‘deadmau5 teases new orchestral mix of strobe! Possible movie score?’ Once the philharmonic version of “Stobe” entered the public domain, speculations poured in. Unfortunately, all we can do is sit behind our 15-inch MacBook Pros and wait.

“I’m not explaining shit because you guys don’t pay me enough. If I don’t get to buy fucking $20 million mansions, I don’t have to fucking explain anything” chuckled Zimmerman.
