The title is fitting. ‘Hornet’ runs on a relentless pulse, the kind of track meant for peak-time moments as the season shifts from festival season into the indoor club circuit. Pan-Pot and Martinez lock into a shared frequency here, taking the raw drive of peak-time techno and dressing it up in a tighter, more intricate production than either artist’s solo work typically leans toward.

The release timing isn’t random. It lands right before Pan-Pot’s return to Amsterdam Dance Event, where they’re bringing back the 50:HERTZ CLUB TRAIN for a second edition on October 24. This year’s version is being billed as an all-day affair dedicated entirely to HUMAN, the label and creative platform Pan-Pot built as a companion to their SECOND STATE imprint. The lineup for that day includes Martinez herself alongside Audio State, Kaufmann, and Lalena. Once the daytime portion wraps, the whole thing rolls into a HUMAN label takeover, with Pan-Pot playing an all-night-long closing set at Het Sieraad that runs into the early hours.

Pan-Pot — the duo of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix — has spent the better part of two decades building out a footprint that goes well beyond DJ bookings. Between SECOND STATE and HUMAN, they’ve turned what started as labels into full event series running across Europe and North America, with a release schedule that hasn’t really slowed down. Their sound has shifted over the years, but the throughline has always been a focus on physical, in-the-room club experiences rather than chasing trends.

Chloé Martinez brings her own trajectory to the collaboration. She made her debut on the French Riviera back in 2007 and has spent the years since building a sound that moves between melodic, peak-time, minimal, and house influences rather than sitting in one lane. She built her name on the Côte d’Azur before expanding into bookings across Russia, Spain, the Netherlands, and Italy, plus clubs throughout France, sharing bills with artists including Mark Reeve, DJ Hell, Jay Lumen, Nakadia, DJ Snake, Marcus Meinhardt, Nastia, Michelle Manetti, and BOHO.

HUMAN and SECOND STATE were built as an extension of where Pan-Pot’s sound has gone over the years — platforms meant to bridge straightforward techno energy with something more long-form, built around the idea that the dancefloor experience still carries weight beyond the music itself. ‘Hornet’ fits into that framework as a track that’s direct on the surface but layered underneath, and it gives a preview of the energy fans can expect when Pan-Pot and Martinez share a bill at ADE next month.

The duo has transformed the original into what they describe as a “hypnotic, tide-like groove driven by low-end pressure, crisp percussion, and a sense of constant motion.” True to Pan-Pot’s signature style, the remix builds subtly before becoming all-consuming, designed for full dancefloor immersion.

The release continues the expansion of HUMAN, Pan-Pot’s evolving platform that functions as both a label and global event series. Speaking about the remix creation, Pan-Pot shared an elaborate backstory for the track: “Late one night, somewhere between a drifting cargo signal and a forgotten island rave, Pan-Pot and State of House reportedly intercepted a rhythm echoing across the Pacific Ocean. No source. No coordinates. Just a pulse moving steadily beneath the surface, like the ocean itself had learned how to dance.”

They continued: “Drawn to it, they followed the signal. What they found was not a location, but a phenomenon. Low frequencies rolling like tides. Percussion hitting like distant storms. A groove so hypnotic it reportedly altered the direction of at least one shipping route and caused a small group of dolphins to synchronize perfectly on the drop.”

The HUMAN event series expanded significantly last year, hosting showcases in Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and the Netherlands, alongside the official Street Parade afterparty in Zurich. This summer, Pan-Pot will continue their international run across major cities and festivals.

Their upcoming tour schedule includes stops at Paris (Kilomètre25) on April 25th, followed by their HUMAN Mayday all-day event at Cassiopeia in Berlin on May 1st. The duo will then hit INPUT in Barcelona on May 2nd before heading to Drumcode Mallorca on May 8th.

Festival appearances are lined up for BAUM Festival 2026 on May 22nd, Forbidden Forest Festival in the UK on June 4th, Chocolate Festival in Switzerland on June 5th, and 909 Festival in Amsterdam on June 6th.

Yes we are two days late. No we are not by any means less excited. If anything, we spent a proper chunk of the last 48 hours adding to Amy Wiles‘ Spotify play count. Matter of fact, we could do the same today. The UK-based producer has just released the Here I Am EP, a collection of five impeccable tunes which battle on all fronts of the Trance sphere, and we can’t get enough of them.

In case you’re not aware, Amy has been on a roll. She’s come a long way since starting her career at 16. She grew on to become one of Anjunabeats’ most promising acts during Lockdown, and she’s filled that spot gracefully. Having played at major festivals like Tomorrowland, Creamfields, ASOT, and Above & Beyond’s very own ABGT milestone gigs, she’s delivered tune after tune, and set after set.

The Here I Am EP

Amy is back in the studio today with the release of the long-awaited Here I Am EP. By sheer coincidence, the five-track release is comprised entirely of female acts. Alongside Amy, who rocks the two solo tracks ‘For You’ and the title track ‘Here I Am’ — which went on to become one of our picks for our New Music Friday series a few weeks ago —, Nourey, HANA, and Leena Punks all make an appearance this time, on the tracks ‘Human’, ‘Dreamland’, and ‘Sweet Feeling’ respectively.

The entire EP approaches Trance in a very respectful way, yet with a much-needed amount of forward motion. All tracks are a nod to the past in their own respective ways, but they don’t get stuck in the past, and instead ferrycorsten their way to become works of yesteryear emotion with modern production tidiness. “Some of these musical ideas have been in the works for quite some time, some came together in the space of a couple of months“, Wiles says.

It’s uncommon for me to like an EP or longer release in such a way that I can’t pick one. I’m digging the entire journey from beginning to end. That said, one track hasn’t failed once to make me sing along: ‘Human‘. I’m cooking breakfast and I’ll surprise myself humming the melody in the kitchen. And so, for that, it’s got to earn the top spot for me.

‘Human’ has got something I can only describe as the sound I fell in love with when I first discovered Anjuna. I came to the label around 2015, so Progressive Trance was in full swing, and I can really see the link between Amy and Nour’s track and, say, a hybrid between Sunny Lax and the later years of ilan Bluestone. It’s got the groove, the vibe, the tension… everything.

Truly a spectacular work, all-round. If this is the future of Trance, I don’t want to miss a second of it.

Recently, Thomas Bengalter, one half of the musical duo “Daft Punk” released Mythologies.  This is an album of music he has written (much during the Covid-19 pandemic) as a score for a ballet.  It features classically inspired music (touches of Berlioz and Rimsky-Korsakov), and orchestral sounds.  And he has many concerns on the direction of human vs artificial intelligence and where man will belong in such a future.
This is yet another step in a new direction for the duo.  We remember them as the ‘robots’ who pushed the boundaries of electronic music starting almost 30 years ago.  And the duo who gave us the futuristic soundtrack to Tron:Legacy.  But as they have matured (and broken up) they moved into other styles, their last album together being “Random Access Memories” in 2019.  A very soulful/melodic analog music album.

Despite their association with ‘technology’ (and their robotic image), Thomas feels very strongly that a clear distinction must always exist between humanity and robotics.  He has seen the potential future of AI-composed or assisted music creation and has warnings both about that and our artificial intelligence future.  He asserts, “I love technology as a tool, [but] I am somehow terrified of the nature of the relationship between the machines and ourselves”.  The stuff of many science-fiction novels and books, the idea of how A.I. could both bring us either a better future or a future of nightmares (or both at the same time).  “2001: A Space Odyssey is maybe my favorite film and the way [Stanley] Kubrick presented it is so relevant today – because he is asking exactly the question that we have to ask ourselves about technology and the obsolescence of man.”

Coming in at the top spot is none other than the Anjunabeats honchos, Above & Beyond, with their masterpiece of an album, Common Ground. Sporting a thirteen track setlist, and numerous collaborations we get more than enough to hold us over till their next release.

2. ilan Bluestone – Scars

Coming in at the second spot we have none other than ‘Scars‘ from, ilan Bluestone. While this album no doubt has the mesmerizing “Anjuna-vibe” that the label is known for, Bluestone went on the record as saying that the record “is just me in the studio experimenting with the sound that I like to produce for myself and what people will feel.” If you haven’t given this a listen yet, it is highly recommended you do.

3. Spencer Brown – Illusion of Perfection

Illusion of Perfection is Spencer Brown‘s debut album, and it is blazing hot. This album is a prime example of why the legendary Avicii handpicked Brown as direct support on his 2014 TRUE tour. With a 12 track setlist, its easy to keep coming back for more.

4. Lane 8 – Little By Little

Few producers have been able to make a splash the way Daniel Goldstein has with his Lane 8 project. In his second album, Little By Little, Lane 8 is able to melodically hypnotize us, and keep us coming back for more. It is easy to say that this album is slammed with hit after hit.

5. Steve Angello – HUMAN

This list would not be complete without Steve Angello‘s debut album, Human. Through Human, the SIZE Records label head brings us some of his best work to date. Steve Angello shows us what kept him busy while Swedish House Mafia was inactive, and its glorious. This record will definitely be a defining moment in Angello’s career and is already being considered a musical masterpiece.

6. Deadmau5 – Where’s The Drop?

Deadmau5 shocked the world when he revealed that he would be releasing an album featuring some of his biggest hits, in orchestral form. The TIDAL exclusive album was released alongside two Orchestra shows. There are few artist that are able to pull off recreating their music with live instruments, however through Where’s The Drop?, Deadmau5 joins the club.

7. Alison Wonderland – Awake

Alison Wonderland wows us with her Sophomore Album Awake, as she takes us on a ride through different genres, and soundscapes. Listening though the album in one go can cause the listener to go on quite the emotional rollercoaster. With that being said, the album contains 14 tracks, and there is plenty to enjoy.

8. Enrico Sangiuliano – Biomorph

Last, but definitely not least, we have Enrico Sangiuliano’s Biomorph. Being the only techno artist on the list should say something for the high quality of Sangiuliano’s productions. Biomorph is “A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution.” At 11 tracks, the album itself is one big cohesive work of art, and a very enjoyable listen.

After Tim Bergling‘s (Avicci) recent suicide, Kaskade has decided to use his platform to speak out through his online journal. Ryan Raddon (Kaskade) posted on his own website expressing a deeply personal message in wake of the increase in suicides.

“I can relate to feeling that this life is too much and that I am not enough. Can’t you?”

Consequently, Kaskade emphasized how media effects our perspective of reality – and how he is not exempt from these feelings. The images and larger than life posts plastered on social media are only highlighted aspects of people’s lives. These posts don’t include the growing number of individuals who are combating depression and anxiety on a daily basis.

“How many people in our lives do we look past daily or weekly or even once-in-a-lifetime who need us to look AT them?”

The text reads as an open letter to humanity post-digitization, identifying a cause of deep seated loneliness for many. But regardless of these problems that must be overcome, there is a solution. Most importantly the message boils down to the idea that we have the power to influence every one that we come in contact with. We have the option to either make their life better for having crossed paths, or to disregard this and continue down the isolated path.

Steve Angello recently announced on a his social media that a “Lifetime Pass” is coming soon. Lifetime passes grant the holder access to every one of Angello’s solo shows for life. He stated that this is his way of thanking his fans for the constant loyalty and support. There is no information on how we can attain a pass just yet but it’s safe to assume that he will release it via a contest related to his new Human album. We can’t help but find it interesting that he specifically points out that this only applies to solo shows. This is more or less confirmation that SHM will have some more shows at one point or another.

In an updated post, Angello revealed that the pass will look something like a white credit card. While we wait for more details on this incredible opportunity, you can check out the announcement below. Also be sure to listen to his Human here now if you haven’t already.
