Carl Cox Tops Alternative Top 100 DJs For Second Year In a Row

Every year, the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll comes out, and every year, people are upset. If you’ve been in the Dance Music scene long enough, its easy to see why people get so upset, after all, its literally a popularity contest. Despite the fact that the list is pretty much all about money, and bookings, it is a good indication of showing which artists are known in the mainstream space, and who can generate ticket sales. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really do much to gauge an actual DJ’s DJ skills, and that is where the DJ Mag Alternative Top 100 DJ list comes into play.

DJ Mag has partnered with Beatport, for the second time in a row, to bring us the DJ Mag Alternative Top 100 DJs List. The alternative DJ list is made up using sales date from Beatport amongst other things, rather than votes, and is definitely a better way of choosing who is the ‘world’s top DJ’. If you’re familiar with the list, you would know that Carl Cox, topped last years list.

After viewing the DJ Mag Alternative Top 100 DJs List 2019’s results, we now see that Cox repeated this triumphant feat. Coming in second is Adam Beyer, with Claptone, Nina Kraviz, and Fisher following, in that order. Filling out the top ten are other artists, such as Richie Hawtin, Peggy Gou, and Boris Brechja. If you’re unfamiliar with any of these artists, I highly recommend checking them out. You can find the full listing of the full listing of the DJ Mag Alternative Top 100 DJs below. Thoughts?
