Nintendo’s games and characters have been longstanding influences in the world of pop culture and have played a huge role in helping establish the current world of video games that we know and love today. As technology has progressed and video games have advanced, Nintendo remains a front runner in the industry, as people are continuing to grow even more fond of the beautifully created Nintendo games from the company’s heyday – the era of the Super Nintendo.

To celebrate this iconic contribution to the world of pop culture, Nintendo is working in coordination with Universal Studios to open several Nintendo-themed rides and attractions to pay homage to the visionary company.

According to the company, Super Nintendo World will feature everyone’s favorite characters, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and many more. Nintendo enthusiasts should be truly excited, due to the fact that according to Universal, the construction of Super Nintendo world will be truly immersive and allow fans to essentially dive into the virtual world of Nintendo. The construction will be to the “Highest Level of Quality,” and will be overseen by Universal, alongside Nintendo collaborator and gaming judge, Shigeru Miyamoto.

This 50 billion yen ($433 million) construction project, although ambitious, is a true ode to the work of the Nintendo company, who were some of the first to make gaming such a pervasive part of youth culture. It is a fitting tribute to the massive work that the company has done, and is doing, to propel the industry forward – not to mention the construction of the park will help to even create around a million jobs for Japanese citizens.

We can’t wait to see what they have in store.
