Bassnectar’s ‘Now’ Featured During Super Bowl in Furious 7 Trailer

Over the past few years, EDM’s takeover of North American sound waves has surged, reaching near ubiquitous levels. With such prominence, it’s no surprise that America’s favorite new genre of music has found it’s way into America’s favorite game: The Superbowl. In 2012, Avicii first introduced Superbowl audiences to electronic dance music with his BudLight ad, and Zedd followed suit in 2014. While EDM in the high profile commercials has usually been relegated to songs by more mainstream and radio-friendly acts, this year Bassnectar’s heavy hitting “Now” took center-stage in the Furious 7 trailer. The seventh sequel in the popular car racing franchise is the last to feature the late Paul Walker, and previously used a Dillon Francis x DJ Snake in a different trailer. It seems the film is heavily embracing electronic music and it will be interesting to see how this ties into the Furious 7’s actual soundtrack. Be sure to check out the fast (and furious) trailer below.
