Vice and Sammi Caramela recently published a feature on ‘Soft Clubbing’. Don’t worry, I didn’t know what it was either. Soft clubbing flips the script on nightlife. Instead of forcing yourself into a haze of exhaustion (and questionable cocktails), it’s about fueling your body while still socializing. Think coffee clubbing, morning dance parties, or even sauna raves.

According to Eventbrite, the rise in ‘soft clubbing’ reflects several cultural shifts:

Creating safer, more accessible ways to gather.

Moving away from alcohol and drug-centered experiences.

Recognizing economic realities by opting for more affordable outings.

Prioritizing authentic connections through immersive art, music, and entertainment.

The numbers back it up: Coffee Clubbing events are up 478%, sauna raves have jumped 256%, and morning dance parties have grown 20%. Clearly, people are craving nightlife that feels energizing—not depleting.

So why is soft clubbing taking off? Because more people are realizing that fun doesn’t have to mean pushing your body to its breaking point. Socializing doesn’t need to come with hangovers, regrets, or 3 a.m. fast-food binges (I still like these).

Instead, younger generations—especially Gen Z—are redefining nightlife to focus on intention, connection, and joy. As Roseli Ilano, Eventbrite’s Head of Community & Trends, puts it:

“This movement isn’t about giving something up—it’s about choosing more. More presence, more intention, more joy. Gen Z is redefining what it means to go out, and they’re turning to experiences that nourish the body and soul as much as they entertain.”

Soft clubbing feels like the perfect middle ground. You can be with your friends, dancing, and making memories—but also love waking up the next morning without feeling like you’ve been hit by a bus.

Stranded in paradise sounds like a good thing. But for the attendees of The Tribal Gathering in Panama, it became their worst nightmare. Vice went into what happens when a tropical music festival goes on lockdown.

COVID-19 placed the music festival under quarantine on March 15th. After some time, lawyers and authorities could let some people off. However, at least 40 people remain trapped on-site. For them, that jungle is no longer paradise.

On April 21st the flight ban in the country extended to May 22nd. This left festival-goers stranded for at least another month. We’ve seen Lord of the Flies, Fyre Festival, and The Beach. What will become of the last music festival on earth?

The indigenous people that were part of the festival returned home to their natural environment. Everyone else remained. They needed their temperatures and health checked. Transportation to the airports became an uncomfortable experience as passports got detained. You needed proof of your flight in order to leave and even then, getting an actual departure date was rough.

The military became aggressive and each day got worse and worse. Authorities made festival-goers sleep on the ground. If you wanted to go home, you could try to fly to a different country. But you needed a permit. Concerns about getting food, cleaning products, and any necessities to last who knows how long on an island remained uncertain. How do you pass the time in a place not knowing if and when you would return to your home? Morale decreased by the days; do you leave or do you stay? Where do you go and who do you trust? Panama takes the quarantine very seriously.

In The End

Thankfully, international embassies came to the rescue of their citizens. For those that remained stranded there, they formed their own tribe of survivors. It may be an ironic or sanctimonious tale, but we’ll let you decide. All we can ask for is the good health of everyone out there during this difficult time.

Kill The Noise and Mat Zo are incredibly respected artists in their field, and each have many fans whom support them immensely. In addition, both have a project together under the moniker Kill The Zo. The project housed their song ‘Part I’ along with a monstrous remix for ‘Got The Love’ by Big Gigantic. KTN recently took to Twitter claiming he and Mat have multiple albums’ worth of music written together! Both artists are remarkably talented, and hearing their work together shows that they’re pushing each other creatively.

Fans have been anticipating more music from Kill The Noise since his latest remix of Snails and NGHTMRE’s ‘Only Want You.‘ Mat Zo has been focused on growing his own label, Mad Zoo, which hosts brilliant upcoming talents such as Shadient, Swardy (a member of The M Machine), and Krayysh. The most recent releases on the label come from Brock Wilson with his ‘Blue!‘ EP, and Mat Zo’s own ‘Vice’ VIP. Furthermore, Mat Zo recently released his ‘No Words’ EP on the Anjunabeats label.

It’s currently unknown as to when and how we will receive their music, or if we will at all. KTN and Mat have certainly given something for their fans to anticipate.

This week a viral tweet featuring an “influencer only” mural in Los Angeles popped up on our timelines. The tweet in question displayed a picturesque mural guarded by a private security guard that barred anyone without verified status or at least 20,000 followers from posing in front of the “private mural.” The internet, of course, went up in arms over the seemingly discriminating mural, with some users decrying that “we are literally living in hell.” Well, we’ve recently learned that the whole thing was a marketing ploy for a new digital series aptly titled “Like and Subscribe.” A publicity stunt in LA? Who would’ve thought?

There’s a new security-guarded mural in LA that only allows influencers and verifieds to take pics in front of it. pic.twitter.com/PDlLJ9C0DI

A shocking twist to the whole fiasco is that Dillon Francis has a starring role in the series. The DJ/producer—who also serves as executive producer of the show—will play a talent manager who gets in over his head taking on an out-of-control-group of viral stars.

“Like and Subscribe” will also star SNL’s John Milhiser and comedian Brandon Wardell. The show is slated to premiere on July 9th.

Over the last year Ive been developing my own show called @likeandsub. Its about a topic very very dear to my heart…influencers. Its out July 9th…I am starring in it & also I executive produced it.. A lot of work went into this & i am so excited for you all to finally see it. pic.twitter.com/Y1DtzD6Ril

Ever Wonder Who Listens To Skrillex? Vice is consistently producing quality content.
Ever Wonder Who Listens To Skrillex?

Vice is consistently producing quality content. The media company has built somewhat of a reputation for themselves in terms of news reporting, but that doesn’t mean it’s afraid to have some fun either. For example, the new series “What Would Diplo Do?” is an oddly entertaining take on Diplo’s everyday life. The relatively new series gives viewers a humorous glimpse inside the life of a world famous Producer. The media outlet recently released an investigative journalism piece trying to shed light on the other side of the Electronic music community. The Fans.

The video follows Vice reporter Josh Haddow as he interviews multiple people who claim to be Skrillex fans. I honestly couldn’t believe that the video was real, and I still have my doubts. Legitimacy aside, the video is thoroughly entertaining and I recommend giving it a watch if you want to learn about the everyday Skrillex fan.

The millennial media giant Vice is shutting down Thump, its electronic music dedicated brand and blog. Thump did a good job capturing it’s target audience when it launched in 2013, but the publication will be no more after Vice announced that it will be cutting back jobs globally and laying off two percent of its workforce in the USA, Canada and Europe. In total 60 jobs are being cut.

Vice is known for its uncensored and informative coverage on current events worldwide. The world of electronic dance music was a perfect place for them because of the constant material they could cover. The Rave culture, drug use, fashion trends and worldwide festival industry gave them material to bring to us for years. Vice sports is also being shut down. When Thump was started in 2013, electronic music was on the rise in the United States, and they certainly capitalized on that. There is no shortage of coverage on electronic music, so even without Thump, we don’t believe there will be much of a shortage on the coverage of the music we all love going forward.

Diplo has built his music empire on the back of his meticulously-crafted identity and his . renaissance man philosophy better self-described as “random white dude be everywhere.” As the face of Calvin Klein, countless dance side projects, his own label and pop production—it’s no wonder he has become a bona fide household name.

The man knows how to market himself to a T. So much that his curated persona has in a sense become a meta-parody of itself. Always over-the-top and blissfully out of touch, his character has unsurprisingly made its way onto our television screens. In association with his new Viceland series project, What Would Diplo Do?, he has launched a new verified Twitter account under the same name. This time however, his television counterpart James Van Der Beek acts to steer the account. The tweets include a healthy dose of existential wit and Diplo-esque banter. The tweets often blur the line to the point where you can’t tell if the original or Diplo 2.0 tweeted. If you thought the his twitter game was strong, wait until you see Diplo 2.0’s.

Since 2013 festival livestreams have become a huge business for festivals around the world. They show the festivities in their most polished HD wonder, driving up FOMO more than almost any other marketing. This year Governor’s Ball in New York decided to let VICE produce the festival’s livestream. Either VICE is horrible at livestreams or Governor’s Ball was an absolute disaster. Since Day 3 ended up being cancelled due to weather, we’re willing to bet its some combination of the two.

It appears that Vice is reveling in the cringeworthy nature of the livestream coverage with the caption “It was our first-ever live broadcast, and frankly, it might be our last.” The coverage is filled with awkward presenters desperately trying to kill time while bands spend seemingly an eternity to switch from one to another. Some highlights include a live condom usage demonstration with a microphone, one presenter being cut off mid-story because she had nothing to say, and a VICE equipment manager describing the festival as “mostly a lot of standing around”. It really makes you appreciate the polish and the efficiency of our dance music festivals like Ultra, Tomorrowland, and EDC that go off without a hitch. Is this mainly a symptom of multi-genre festivals or was it the weather? Or maybe VICE should have only gone live when the performances began, since most of the time was spent waiting. Check out all the cringeworthy action at the videos above and below.

Logos are the face of not just brands but people, places, teams, and artists. We all recognize logos before a name. Having a big or catchy logo can help tremendously, it helps us stand out from the rest of the crowd and gives everyone a visual identity. Take the mau5 head for example. Everyone knows it, I even have friends who don’t know deadmau5 or his music but know “that mouse head guy that plays techno”. If you get it out there enough everyone will recognize it.

Not all logos are good though. some could definitely be considered failures. The guys from Thump at Vice asked 5 creative directors and graphic designers to rate different logos. Each one was score one to ten and all critiques were accepted. Here are the scores.

10. Kygo – 4.6/10
9. Avicii – 4.7/10
8. Skrillex – 5.1/10
7. Tiesto – 5.4/10
6. Flying Lotus – 5.8/10
5. Evian Christ – 5.9/10
4. Justice – 6.6/10
3. The Chemical Brothers – 7.2/10
2. Aphex Twin – 8.0/10
1. Daft Punk – 8.2/10

Danish producer Galimantias, and singer songwriter Alina Baraz, have been busy this past week, releasing their official remix package of their hit track, ‘Fantasy’, as well as releasing the official music video on MTV.

‘Fantasy’ has racked up over 13.5 million plays on Soundcloud, as well as making the ‘Spotify Top Viral 50’ track list. As of this post’s original writing, the track now sits at #5 on Billboard’s ‘Top Dance / Electronic’ list and at #4 on ‘iTunes electronic’, even though it’s been a month since it’s release.

TEEMID transforms the track into a Deep house smash that’ll shake up dance floors throughout the club scene. Vice’s work is dreamier, showing how intricate the track really is, while Pomo quickens the beat to make a progressive house remix that makes the track a golden summer hit. Check out all the remixes, as well as the original track here:
