Le Youth, Forester, Robertson – ‘alone’

The song begins with a soothing bass and mellow harmonies, introducing us to Forester’s heavenly vocals. The sultry cords and Forester’s tone relax your body and inspire your mind. Moreover, the lyrics emphasize heartbreak and vulnerability. This marks the duo’s second collaboration with Le Youth, following 2024’s ‘Stay Still’ featuring Lyrah’s charming vocals. The song reflects on wanting to come back from a lost love, and poses the mindset that sometimes one would rather feel alone than have any negative feelings at all. Nonetheless, ‘alone’ aspires to bring out a resolution to the problem. As the track builds up into an emotional drop, the vision is clear. Loving through and through is the only way out of that dark state of mind.

Le Youth has slowly revealed his upcoming work with single releases and a sneak peek livestream earlier last month. Tracks including ‘i don’t know what to say’, ‘sanctuary’, ‘still my ecstasy’, and ‘blinded’ progressively reveal the artists psyche, leading into the official album release next month. So far, collaborators include Lipless, Hana Fatur, ALLKNIGHT, Ella Poletti, and Orem. The artist has emphasized the relevance of introspective exploration for this album. The 14-track LP projects his self-reflection from the last year. His last milestones put into perspective things he has chased, and who he feels he has become.

Moreover, the album is an invitation for listeners to get to know Le Youth, past social media, past our own perception of him as a musician, and as an individual.

The Indie Electronic Duo consists of Xander and David, a pair that elevates sustainability at the same level as their craft. Their melodies and vocals resonate within the environment. And their career is heavily built around their love for the planet. Forester’s mission is to create a virtually carbon-free project. The Digital Drift boys have done it again. What once started as an innocent collaboration between longtime pals Nitrous Oxide and Simon Gregory, worked so well that they ended up making a new alias for their conjoint releases. A common ground for both, the Digital Drift project has represented the solidification of a core and iconic sound in the Progressive Trance scene, finally addressed.

What I mean to say is, being this the nth track I come across produced by them as a duo, I’ve finally been able to find that Progressive Trance sound everyone loved some years ago, and that the industry suddenly left behind to replace it with a sort of Peak-Time Techno, and then Melodic Techno hybrid. Even Classic Trance came back before anyone dared mop the dust off ye ole reliable Prog Trance.

And I’m so glad Simon and Chris have not only revived this iconic sound but have also perfected it beyond limits. And how wouldn’t they? While Chris has been a veteran and pillar of Trance for close to 20 years, Simon has been at the very front of the genre for years, working closely with the guys at Mondo records, and landing Anjunabeats deals, among others.

‘Alone’

Digital Drift’s latest just came out today. ‘Alone’ just saw the light of day via FSOE Argento, and it’s carrying sizable momentum from the last weeks. Dan Stone, Argento label head, spun it a few weeks ago on his show, and after that came double support from Above & Beyond on their Group Therapy radioshow, back-to-back.

Dark and powerful, ‘Alone’ is a track that pairs the best of the energy Progressive is known for, with the melody and heartfelt emotion of Trance.

Today’s artist needs no introduction: Maor Levi. A Trance veteran, having joined the Anjunafamily when he was only 15, has been releasing consistently over time. Actually, look no further and we can see he had released a couple singles this year alone — namely, ‘Alone‘ and ‘Let You Go‘.

If you just wished all the single hype pointed to an EP, well you’re in luck today! Maor Levi just released the Shift EP. If you just wished you could have tons of Maor Levi and Maor Levi related works in the palm of your hand, and straight out of the oven, well you’re also in luck today! This EP contains tons of music, and when I say tons, I mean it. In total, this release contains seven (!) songs — five originals + two remixes —, plus all the tracks in both radio edit and full extended mixes, adding up to an unbelievable fourteen tracks making up the, basically, mini album.

The Shift EP

Alright, so let’s break this monster down. The first track we come across is ‘Mhondoro‘, a harder-Progressive-Trance collaboration between Maor Levi, OTIOT, and singer EL Waves. If you feel like you’ve heard this one somewhere, it’s because it was featured in Above & Beyond‘s Anjunabeats Volume 16 compilation last year. Then there’s his conjoint single ‘Let You Go‘ alongside Magnificence. Read the article we wrote for this track by clicking here.

Next up, a team work between Maor, Brandon Vendetta, and duo Ash Nova, titled ‘Alone‘. We’ve also written about the track, so be sure to read by clicking here. Further down the line, there’s ‘Open Road‘, yet another Maor-OTIOT collab, this time featuring vocals by Taylr Renee. This song, together with the next one on the list, make up the two new singles to be premiered via this EP. Finally, the fifth track of the EP is called ‘2 Minds‘, a track produced by Mr. Levi, and featuring vocal lines by SLM.

Closing the EP stand two brand new remixes for Maor’s 2021 track ‘Am I Dreaming?‘, one by Crystal Skies, and the other by Tony Gribsun. Please keep in mind all tracks feature their extended counterpart as much as their radio edit form.

Maor Levi is starting this year as strong as it gets. The Anjunabeats veteran has teamed up with Progressive Trance producer Brandon Vendetta and duo Ash Nova for ‘Alone‘, his first release of 2023, carrying the momentum from past years. This way, the producer who, during the last 24 months worked with artists such as Armin van Buuren and Yahel and even held a remix competition on his track ‘Am I Dreaming?’, kicks off his 18th year in the Electronic scene.

As for Brandon Vendetta, this collaboration marks his third-ever release, after remixing Elysian‘s ‘Moonchild’ back in 2020, and working alongside ALPHA 9 on ‘No Time To Talk’, the eighth song on his debut album New Horizons, just out of the oven. Brandon has released all of his works on Anjunabeats so far.

Maor Levi & Brandon Vendetta feat. Ash Nova – Alone

The song is a fun example of when two artists and their styles merge together rather seamlessly. All throughout the track you can hear Maor’s iconic Electro-heavy sound design with fastly panned vocals, distorted textures and raw growls, as well as Brandon’s airy atmospheres and tasty rolling basslines. Ash’s vocals sit in the middle of a very kind and open break. You can kind of point out which parts are more leaned to which producer, as the spacey drum break is followed by a sequence of reversed saws, dry elements, and a big beat. Certainly a great first collaboration between the two.

Congratulations are in order to Canadian independent record label Monstercat and producer Marshmello. It is celebrating its first RIAA Certified Platinum record thanks to Marshmello’s ‘Alone‘. The label was founded in 2011 by Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen, and recently won DJ Mag’s Best Breakthrough Label in July 2017.

‘Alone’ was released on May 13, 2016 and has reached an astounding 1,000,000 digital copies sold. The single vaulted Marshmello’s career, and has to be one of the most recognizable EDM songs in popular music today. It was the first release on the Monstercat label to get over 600 million views. The music video depicts a lonely, bullied Marshmello making music in his house. He is secretly recorded by a classmate who shares the video, and Marshmello goes from zero to hero overnight.

Monstercat has supported big name artists like San Holo, Pegboard Nerds, Dzeko & Torres, NGHTMRE, Seven Lions and many more. This colossal Platinum achievement will boost its credibility, reputation and desirability as an independent label.
