Josh Wink has released a remix of Chris Liebing‘s ‘Eye C,’ out now on Liebing’s own CLR imprint. The track comes from Liebing’s Evolver album, and the two producers have been swapping remix favors for nearly two decades to get here.

The backstory is what makes this one worth paying attention to. Back in 2009, Wink tapped Liebing to remix ‘Counter Clock 319’ off his When a Banana Was Just a Banana album. Seventeen years later, Liebing returned the call and asked Wink to do the same for ‘Eye C,’ reportedly because he felt the track’s acid-leaning structure was a natural fit for Wink’s production style. That’s not a small compliment coming from Liebing, whose CLR label has spent over two decades as one of techno’s more respected proving grounds for peak-time material.

Wink’s version keeps the original’s dark, hypnotic tension intact but pushes it into rougher territory. The remix opens low and rumbling before acid lines start cutting through the mix, hi-hats sharpen, and pieces of the original vocal drift in and out of the groove. Rather than front-loading the energy, Wink lets the pressure build and recede in waves, a restraint that’s arguably rarer in techno remixes built for club use than people give it credit for.

Wink addressed the collaboration directly, saying, “Chris and I have been friends and colleagues for many years. We’ve DJed together, spent time in the studio, traveled together, and hung out all over the world.” He added that Liebing has been a longtime source of encouragement whenever Wink second-guesses his own productions, calling him “the kind of friend and colleague” who always responds with support.

A Deep Discography Gets Another Entry

The remix has already picked up co-signs from a heavy list of techno names, including Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Nicole Moudaber, Marco Faraone, Terence Fixmer, and Maceo Plex, among others. That kind of early support list from artists who don’t hand out praise lightly says something about where this one is likely to land in sets over the next few months.

For listeners newer to Wink’s catalog, this remix slots into a résumé that includes reworks for Radiohead, Moby, Depeche Mode, and Dave Clarke, alongside his own genre-defining originals like ‘Higher State of Consciousness’ and ‘Don’t Laugh.’ He’s stayed active in 2026 with the ‘Futurama’ single, his ongoing 607 Sessions series, and Found Sounds mixes for Apple Music, all while running Ovum Recordings, the Philadelphia label he founded that’s now in its fourth decade.

Wink has a run of dates coming up, including a hometown stop at Day Walkers 02 in Philadelphia on September 26, his Hallowink No. 11 party with DJ Tennis on Halloween, and a booking for Sneak’s Birthday Beats in Los Angeles on November 14.
