Jack Emery is a rising star in the electronic music industry and he is a maestro in the melodic house and melodic techno genres. He has also become a well-known name in the Purified Records label and his amazing music has received support from notable stars such as Meduza, Sultan + Shepard, and the Purified label head herself, Nora En Pure.
He recently released his latest EP, Everlast, and the EP is a definite must-hear for everyone who wants to enjoy feel-good music that is also innovative and enhances emotions to a higher level. Here is the exclusive interview with Jack Emery, who has also released his latest single, ‘Running’, alongside British deep house singer-songwriter MØØNE.
Your latest EP, Everlast, came out on March 13th via Purified Records. What were your artistic thoughts that came up when you were crafting the EP?
“When I made the EP I really wanted to showcase the instrumental side of my music while also adding some diversity to my sound. The title track, ‘Everlast’ features a more-driving, clubbier sound that I’ve been enjoying in the studio and in my sets while ‘Up and Down’ and ‘Rise’ are more emotional and experimental. I definitely had a lot of fun with the synth layers and arrangements in this EP.”
What has been the most memorable feedback of your Everlast EP that resonated in your mind since its release?
“The coolest part was Nora En Pure’s feedback when she first started testing the title track ‘Everlast’ in her shows around Europe. It was such an inspiring feeling to finish a few different versions of the track for her to test in front of crowds and hearing her feedback on the crowd reaction each time she played it. After plays in Poland, The Netherlands, I was able to use her direct live crowd feedback to polish the final version of the track.”
With the EP already out a month prior, do you feel that your musical style right now has differed from when you started your music career a few years ago? Or do you feel like over time, your music style will gradually develop your own, unique blend?
“I think there are certainly some new elements I’ve been adding into my tracks and probably a more dancefloor-friendly sound in some tracks compared to a few years ago. But at the same time, I try to sprinkle in certain key elements that are consistent across my tracks like little synth hits with heavy reverb or my usual bassline.”
You recently toured North America over the past few months. Which were your most memorable experiences on that tour?
“Absolutely loved touring through New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Miami the past few months. I really enjoy the feeling of testing new unreleased music in front of crowds and learning how each crowd is different to each other. It’s really rewarding when you read the crowd and learn what makes them move. I also love exploring new places so touring and going to different restaurants in each city is an awesome experience too.”
Do you have any upcoming music that are in the works that we can look forward to hearing real soon?
“Definitely! I have 2 of my favorite tracks coming this summer with a couple of very talented vocalists that I’ve always admired. I can’t wait to share these singles and will be featuring them in my upcoming sets.”
What do you aim to accomplish, career-wise and personally, within the next five years?
“I’d like to continue playing sets in new places as well as growing in markets I’ve tapped into before, work with new collaborators/vocalists, and hone in on what makes my project unique sound-wise as well as artist-identity wise.”
