New York-based producer Flamingosis and the Denver duo Diastrata recently released their collaborative album, Sunlight Daydream, on September 12th via Philos Records. This is Flamingosis’ first album with Philos Records, continuing his work with guitarist Drew Birch and keyboardist Ian Gilley. The album mixes Flamingosis’ sample-rich, retro-funk style with Diastrata’s live instrumentation—guitar, bass, keys, and synths—to create a warm and layered sound.
The first single, the album’s title track, came out in early July and sets a bright tone with its smooth grooves and melodies. The album features the uplifting song ‘Be What You Wanna Be’ and the sunny track ‘Artificial Love’, which came out on on August 15. Deeper songs like ‘Bonus Code’ show off the group’s complex grooves while still sounding light and easy to listen to.
Sunlight Daydream, an album that showcase the outstanding musical talents of Flamingosis and Diastrata
In fact, Sunlight Daydream is perfect for summer days (or on days in any season) and late-night drives, reflecting the strong partnership between the artists built through years of performing and recording together. Also, the album feels timeless, rich, and full of energy and it had arrived on a 12” translucent orange vinyl through Philos Records. The project includes a music video for ‘Artificial Love’ by 3D artist David Mellor (@Mellomograph) and a pop-up event in Denver during the release week.
The album campaign also just finished with a live show at The Mishawaka on September 19, featuring Flamingosis and SunSquabi, with Diastrata opening. Additionally, Sunlight Daydream is a celebration of music, summer, and creativity. Finally, the album offers an uplifting energy for those who enjoy music with depth.
