Tunes Of The Month – Hottest Tracks Of February 2024

These are the songs that shaped our month, from work to the club, and back.

Did it feel like February went by in the blink of an eye? The second month of 2024 came and went without us noticing it. Could it be the anticipation for Miami Music Week? Back down to Earth, though. The month sure left a ton of new music on rotation. And we’d like to point out some of it, looking back, now that we’ve entered March.

For all that new music shaping the Dance scene, we’ve decided to make a little recap highlighting those tunes we can’t get out of our heads. So please sit back, put on your best set of headphones, and read on, as we unveil our top tracks of the shortest month of 2024.

5. Gotye, Kimbra, FISHER, Chris Lake, Sante Sansone — Somebody (2024)

Genre(s): Tech House
Release Date: February 9th, 2024
Mood(s): Groovy, Melodic

Is there anything that gets you more hyped up than a singalong? Like it or not at this point, we’ve all sung the lyrics to this 2011 global hit. Because that’s the truth: thirteen years ago, this track was on every single radio. Well, three powerhouses have come our way to change the habit of shouting the iconic “But you didn’t have to cut me off” line stuck in traffic, to dancing it all out on the dancefloor. Meet the sublime ‘Somebody (2024)‘, a rework made by FISHER, Chris Lake, and Sante Sansone.

4. David Guetta & Alesso — ID [UNRELEASED]

Genre(s): Progressive House
Release Date: Summer 2024 (Confirmed)
Mood(s): Happy, Melancholic

This one is a super recent entry, but it’s made headlines already. And how wouldn’t it, to be honest? David Guetta premiered this track for the first time ever at EDC Mexico, leaving fans both inside and outside the venue quite speechless. Not only did he confirm it’s a song made alongside the Progressive House legend Alesso himself, the sound throws us back to that golden era when shiver-inducing melodies came pouring down in buckets. There are rumours that the singer involved is Lana Del Rey herself. What do you think?

3. John Summit feat. Hayla — Shiver

Genre(s): Tech House
Release Date: February 14th, 2024
Mood(s): Groovy, Energetic

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, one of the largest duos of the last months, John Summit and Hayla, unleashed their follow-up work to the banging, euphoria-inducing, and the winner of our hearts — and the crown of our Top 25 Original Tracks of 2023 list —, ‘Where You Are‘. Their new release, ‘Shiver‘, has been conquering the grounds as well, having been part of the Beatport Top 10 since release day.

2. Skrillex with Bobby Raps — Leave Me Like This (VIP) [UNRELEASED]

Genre(s): Bass House, Electro House
Release Date: N/A
Mood(s): Dark, Energetic

You may pause now and ask “Wait, isn’t this track from last year?“. And it is. The original ‘Leave Me Like This‘ was released on Sonny’s 2023 album Quest For Fire. But he’s been teasing a slightly faster, slightly more energetic VIP version lately. EDC Mexico was no stranger to it either. We wouldn’t know, though, hadn’t Skrillex himself uploaded a reel to Instagram that went absolutely nuts, showing the indescribable amount of energy the crowd had during EDC weekend. Truly a mesmerising moment!

Honourable Mentions

As every month, there was a ton of new material which, even though didn’t make the cut into our list, shouldn’t be overlooked: for a start, the world of Trance saw the release of a brand-new track from Ferry Corsten and young star Marsh, ‘Fulfillment‘; Steve Angello joined his longtime partner in crime Sebastian Ingrosso for a groovy collaboration ‘Skip‘; Calvin Harris featured the vocals of Rag’n’Bone Man in ‘Lovers In A Past Life‘; and Tinlicker released an entire album, Cold Enough For Snow.

1. ARTBAT & Armin van Buuren — Take Off

Genre(s): Melodic Techno
Release Date: February 9th, 2024
Mood(s): Epic

We tuned in to ASOT Rotterdam a couple of weekends ago, and we felt like in a constant déjà vu, for this track was being played in so many of the sets. And with good reason: with the current Melodic Techno wave, many artists have steered to, or at least flirted with, the cool kid on the block. ASOT host Armin van Buuren made clever use of the release schedules to get this collaboration with Ukranian duo ARTBAT just in time for one of the largest milestone celebrations of the brand in the entire year. With great results, by the way!
