Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival Suddenly Cancelled

Jay-Z‘s annual Made in America festival has been suddenly cancelled. The team took to Twitter to announce the news “Due to severe circumstances outside of production control, the 2023 Made in America festival will no longer be taking place.” The festival was scheduled for Sept. 2-3 in Philadelphia.

Made in America had Lizzo and SZA booked as headliners. Miguel, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice, Coi Leray, and Latto were other acts also scheduled to play. There has yet to be a specific reason for the cancellation.

Over the last few years, it has become almost commonplace to have festivals cancelled. Usually, this is for first-year festivals, not established ones. Made in America festival first started in 2012 and only cancelled in recent years as a break for the COVID-19 pandemic. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney expressed his disappointment with the cancellation.

“Since 2012, Made in America has grown into a Philly tradition on Labor Day Weekend celebrating music and promoting worthwhile social causes”
