The MSG Sphere is on its way to being a potential wonder of the world. This week it showed off its impressive LED exterior for the first time. At 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, it featured the largest LED screen in the world. The surface of Sphere consists of approximately 1.2 million hockey puck-shaped LEDs, each containing 48 individual diodes capable of emitting 256 million different colors. The whole project has cost $2.3 billion dollars.
On the inside is also a massive screen with a 170,000-speaker multi-layered audio system. The venue will have an expandable capacity of up to 20,000 with standing room. In celebration of the 4th of July, Sphere was finally illuminated for the first time. Intricate lunar surfaces and photorealistic underwater scenes graced our eyes among other visuals.
It really is a spectacular display of Human invention. We cannot wait to see what acts will play in the sphere. U2 is already scheduled to be the opening show on September 29th.
