HI-LO Returns To Drumcode With CRESCENDO/OPEN YOUR MIND EP

HI-LO returns to Beyer’s label, Drumcode, today with two mighty dance floor bangers, ‘CRESCENDO’, and ‘OPEN YOUR MIND‘. Oliver Heldens‘ techno alias found its home at Drumcode with ‘Hypnos’ and ‘WANNA GO BANG’ Eps in consecutive years. He even led last year’s A-sides compilation with a stellar Layton Giordani collaboration ‘Rabbit Hole’. Plus, he lent his touch to Beyer & DJ Rush’s ‘Restore My Soul’ too. In addition, he’s become a fixture of Drumcode’s events at Miami WMC and The Warehouse Project.

Now, ‘CRESCENDO’ begins as an irresistible roller and has breakdowns that build into a throbbing peak-time composition. Its haunting synth progression reinforces HI-LO’s deft studio skill and accompanies the changing melody. As Oliver states, it’s hypnotic, dark, and trippy while maintaining a melodic and groovy essence.

“Personally, ‘CRESCENDO’ is one of those tracks I can play on an endless loop without getting tired of it. It has been exhilarating to witness the overwhelming response to the track in my HI-LO sets and in Adam’s sets at Timewarp Germany and Brazil.”

Next is ‘OPEN YOUR MIND’. Inspired by the great DK8 classic ‘Murder Was the Bass’, it’s got a foot in techno, electro, and breakbeat camps led by a ripping bassline. You’ll feel yourself getting sucked into his vacuum of tribal drums. HI-LO is yielding bigger things with his alternative sound. With months of road testing, this is the final result. Oliver has played this in his HI-LO and mainstage Oliver Heldens sets. This one’s groove is also super funky, gritty, and uplifting.

The much-lauded alter-ego is cruising through the techno world, gaining widespread acceptance from the underground scene. He’s crossing genre boundaries with cutting-edge, quality hard-hitting techno. So listen to HI-LO’s latest additions to techno below.
