Experimental Duo BOY2K Deliver Infectious Grooves on Debut EP ‘Y2K Is Dead’

Experimental duo BOY2K composed of Boy Untitled and Boy Apocalypse, s a collaborative project that celebrates queer culture through the power of dance music. Their music is in a genre of their own – where they mix electro pop with a modern twist of all types of dance music. Besides their irresistible catchy dance riffs and synth progressions, their music also comes with a powerful message that is much needed in our community. Their mission is to make music for the people that celebrates the unity and respect of the community all while getting everyone to dance! Their latest offering is their sonically expansive debut EP ‘Y2K Is Dead‘ which comes just in time for pride month.

BOY2K has been noted as an “artist to watch” by such publications as Billboard, Earmilk, Gaytimes, NYLON, and OUT! Magazine, and after checking out their latest release, they are very much on our radar as well. The 4 track EP is a fun listen from start to finish with ‘Close Friends’ setting the tone. Each track is unique in its own way in terms of sound design but all share the common similarity of it being infectiously groovy, fun, and a fresh spin on modern dance music.

‘Y2K Is Dead’ is something of a memoir of our new best friend-ship. A collection of sonic ideas that have inspired us during this first year together as a “boy band.” We are queer guys who laugh at everything together, love warehouse parties, techno sunrises and who value being honest about our feelings and encouraging each other (and our community) to think critically about the world. We hope that people see the humor of our friendship, as well as the real inspiration that we get from working together. It’s also amazing that at this stage, we’ve been able to share that inspiration and ethos with so many like-minded artists, both on the music (Tom Ferry, Conor James) and visuals (Lisa TV, Pedro Lollett). Building community is the purpose of our music and we’re grateful that EP has already done that for us in spades!’ -BOY2K

In addition to their debut EP release, the LGBTQ friendly duo is diving headfirst into the Web3 space and are currently collaborating with several outlets to develop next level projects in the NFT music space. If you’re looking for innovation in dance music and technology, stay tuned to the duo for their next big moves.
