MSG Sphere Announces First Non-Music Show, Postcard From Earth

If you haven’t heard, the massive MSG Sphere project is almost complete in Las Vegas. In January they tested their LED panels that will surround the whole venue. In fact, it will have the highest-resolution LED screen in the world. The group just announced it’s first non-music content. It will include an immersive production dubbed Postcard From Earth. This is set to be directed by Oscar Winner The Whale Darren Aronofsky.

MSG Entertainment didn’t confirm the participation of Aronofsky but has said that it would work with Hollywood directors to create content. The MSG Sphere will open this fall with a series of concerts from U2.

The venue will offer hour-long programs including Postcard From Earth, multiple times a day. These programs will be created by directors working with in-house Sphere Studios to utilize the venue’s advanced capabilities. The sphere features a 160,000-square-foot, 16K-by-16K wraparound LED display, custom spatial audio system, and 4D features enabled through haptic seats and environmental effects.

Postcard From Earth, which offers a unique perspective on the beauty of life on Earth, was announced on April 10th. Tickets for Postcard From Earth will go on sale starting at $49 on Wednesday. MSG Entertainment’s executive chairman and CEO, James L. Dolan believes that Postcard From Earth will set a new bar for multi-sensory storytelling possibilities and is excited for audiences to experience it at Sphere this fall.
