This week, Spring Festival will take full effect in New York City at the legendary Avant Gardner to celebrate the Lunar New Year. 1. How does it feel to celebrate the Lunar New Year by playing Spring Festival at Avant Gardner?
It feels awesome to be celebrating my Chinese heritage by playing a show. The culture of dance music has grown so much since I started, and it is cool to see it crossing over every border.
2. What are your favorite parts about playing in New York City?
NYC has had so many legendary venues over the years for dance music that I have great memories at. I have done Webster Hall, Pacha, Gov’s Island…and now it’s awesome to play at Avant Gardner for the first time!
3. What are the top moments you experienced this year (in 2022)?
Definitely touring asia for the first time again since 2019. Got to go to Singapore and Thailand!
4. What’s your favorite pizza or bagel spot in NYC?
Prince ST pizza is soooooo good! For Bagels, you can’t beat Russ and Daughters.
5. What can you tell us about any new tracks you’ll be dropping in your Spring Festival set?
I’m excited to play my latest release with JSTJR “I Wanna” which is out via CONFESSION and some of my upcoming releases that’ll be coming out later this year, like my collabs with NITTI and TV Noise!
6. What are some traditions you have for the Lunar New Year?
I always remember the red envelopes with money in them growing up haha. My family in California would always give them out, sometimes at other holidays too!
7. How does it feel to play alongside KSHMR once again?
It’s going to be awesome to play with him again, It’s been years since we have. He’s been an original colleague in the industry since we both started around 2012-2013! He’s one of the best producers out there.
