Instagram launched its Reels component a while ago to compete with TikTok and other similar social media features. Now, IG is expanding that time to 90 seconds so users can make the most of their content.

“We’re giving you more time to play on Reels, by extending the length to up to 90 seconds. You’ll have more time to share more about yourself, film extra behind-the-seconds clips. [Dig] deeper into the nuances of your content or whatever else you want to do with that extra time.”

In addition to Reels, users can choose Templates for their videos. In case you just feel like making a quick post. This feature allows people to copy another person’s Reels with the same audio and clip. Though this sounds similar to TikTok’s “Use This Audio” feature, perhaps the realm of templates will further expand.

What’s more, you can pin up to three Reels or posts to the top of your profile. Add stickers, create polls, quizzes, emoji sliders, and more to interact with your audience better. Then “Pin to your profile”. The social media influencer game is stepping up even more. From dance trends to voiceovers, cooking recipes, and travel aspirations and inspirations, it’s no wonder these short videos become addicting. Endlessly scroll and learn, laugh, and share. The 90 seconds is a step-up, but we wonder if they’ll make a 3-minute or 5-minute option in the future as well.
