4B Talks Hakkasan Residency, Asia Tour, and Upcoming Track

The past few years have been quick on the come up for New Jersey native 4B. From playing in tri-state area clubs, Bobby McKeon has taken his jersey club sound to the biggest of stages across the world. His hard-hitting sound and ability to command dance floors with his infectious energy is no joke. 2019 especially was a huge year for him. Hit singles such as ‘Told You’, ‘Atomic Bomb’, ‘Bang Bang’, and hip hop hybrid ‘Did You’ with Chris Brown have become crowd favorites.

After coming off of a massive Asia tour, we caught up with Bobby to see what he’s been up to.

2019 was a pretty crazy year for you. On top of all your hit singles, you’ve been playing all over the world. What are some of your more defining moments of the year?

I played so many crazy shows, especially the B2B2Bs that I did with Valentine Khan and GTA. We did a little Asia run that was super crazy. It was so much fun. We’ve been friends for a minute, making music together and playing sets that we weren’t planning, we just freestyled.

How was the overall experience touring in Asia and how did it compare to playing in the U.S. and Europe?

I really appreciated it because the scene is buzzing so much. The fans appreciate the DJs coming out and playing your music, testing new stuff. They are just grasping onto it and wanting more, compared to the U.S. market where people have seen me a bunch. In Asia, I’m getting new fans and fans that don’t see me as much. They are just taking it and running with it.

Speaking about your B2B sets, The Veld Music Festival lineup came out recently and it has you listed for a b2b set with Valentino Khan. Can you tell us a little more about your B2B Valentino Khan Hulk gang series?

We’ve done it a few times, we did it at Audiotistic and Holy Ship. I drink Hennessey, he drinks hypnotic. When you combine those two drinks, you get a green drink that people called the Hulk. So we just took the idea and ran with it. We’ve got a few more bigger shows coming up this year so be on the lookout for that.

You ended 2019 with your song ‘Did You’ with Chris Brown which is definitely one of your more emotional pieces yet. Can you tell us a little more about it and how it came to be?

I’m always trying to develop my sound, especially with Jersey club music. The origin to me with how I got hooked on it is a lot of the remixes are of RnB songs. I always tried to figure out from my remixes from remixing ‘Middle’, ‘Would You Ever’, or ‘Mi Gente’, how do I make that into an original? I’ve always been working with these different demos and developing them. It’s how the Chris Brown record became what it is today. That went through so many different demos and changes and everything. I’m still working on developing the sound where I’m bringing jersey club, a pop side, and hip hop side and combining it all.

Are there any future collaborations or projects in 2020 that you want your fans to know about?

I’ll do a little hint, I’m dropping something crazy next month. It’s a record that I teased over a year ago, around when I teased the Chris Brown record. There’s two really dope features on it and I’m dropping it March 6th. It’s a song called ‘Lucid’ and it’s another song that’s very different than what I usually put out. It’s super vibey and emotional.

Are there any non EDM artists that you would like to collab with?

Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, blackbear, Sheck Wes

Huge congrats about landing your residency with Hakkasan Las Vegas, how does it feel to play at one of the most iconic venues in the world?

At heart I am a club DJ, I’ve been djing for 14 years. I really appreciate the whole club culture of djing. Being able to play in Vegas consistently is amazing, I really enjoy it as a DJ and enjoy doing it. Living in LA, it’s a 30 minute flight, I’m in there real quick. Hakkasan is so dope.

As a DJ, you’re on the road all the time. I’m sure you have a number of TV shows or movies downloaded on Netflix, what are you binging right now?

When I’m home, I just want to binge everything. But because I travel so much, I actually try to not watch stuff at home so I can watch it when I actually travel. I know they just dropped Better Call Saul which I really want to watch right now but I’m going to Europe next month. I’ll be gone for two weeks so I’m just waiting to watch it.
