While most artists are out there making new records, Genix here is breaking them. Just today, his attempt to break the record of playing the world’s ‘highest altitude DJ set on land‘ at 5,593m has finally been officially accepted by the Guinness World Records.
Genix first shared his intentions to break this record earlier this year in March. Back then, the record was held by Chhewang Sherpa of Nepal, who had played a set at 5,416m altitude. Just a week after that announcement, Genix and Ian Kerr ventured over to Mount Everest and played a 25-minute b2b set at Kala Pattar, one of the mountain’s most famous viewpoints.
While all of this seems crazy ambitious, it doesn’t sound too out of line with the Genix we’ve come to know. After all, it isn’t his first time achieving such a monumental feat. For those of you who didn’t know, the trance DJ had also previously set the record for the longest DJ set played at 84 hours back in 2005. The record has since then evolved to a whopping 240 hours, set by DJ Obi from Nigeria in 2016. Next challenge perhaps?
Anyways, a massive congratulations to Genix for accomplishing such a task. The best ways to celebrate? Definitely with his upcoming track ‘Zuul (Original Mix)‘ or Anjunabeats Worldwide 09 mixed by the man himself, both coming up on December 13th through Anjunabeats. And last but not least, the DJ set up on Mount Everest itself.
