Above & Beyond – Another Angel
The top dogs of trance, Above & Beyond, are here once again with a new single. Titled ‘Another Angel‘, the record sees its release on the legendary Anjunabeats. The record played live for the first time at Group Therapy Weekender 2019. It’s an example of Above & Beyond’s attraction to tougher sounds this year.
‘Another Angel’ has already warped minds and shaken up dance floors all over the world this year. It samples the trios 2011 single ‘On My Way To Heaven‘, featured on the Group Therapy album. The unmistakable and usually strident vocal work of Richard Bedford here sounds almost mournful and cowed, surrounded on all sides by shuddering bass. Things culminate in a breathtaking drop that somehow manages to be classic Above & Beyond and something fresh at the same time.
Overall, this record has it all. Classic trance percussion, basslines, and melodies sent from heaven. Richard Bedford’s vocals create an atmosphere of stillness – almost like peace among chaos before bringing it back to powerful melodies.
