Whoever suggested i_o and Grimes get into the studio together needs a pat on the back. Their new song ‘Violence’ combines each artist’s unique style to produce eerily breathtaking melodies. i_o’s signature techno beats can be heard at the very start, meshing perfectly with Grimes’ angelic voice.
In addition to the song, the duo also released a music video on Youtube. Fans were counting down the seconds until the drop, literally. At 12am PST, the screen showed a timer until the preview, as if the anticipation wasn’t enough. The video began with Grimes reading the “Art of War”, looking almost like a war angel herself. The interpretive dance enhances the song even more, and you can even catch a cameo appearance of i_o at the end of the video.
