A Couple Accidentally Received €500,000 of Ecstasy Tablets in the Mail

Many of us have ordered something online and then when you receive it, it’s not quite what you expected. This is the extreme case for an unnamed Austrian couple who ordered dresses online, yet received nearly 25,000 ecstasy pills instead!

The unnamed woman, 58, and her husband 59, purchased the dresses from a retailer in the Netherlands. The police have confirmed, upon receipt of the package, the wife mistook the purple pills for decorative stones. The husband started to clue in and returned the box to their local post office in Linz, Upper Austria.

The post office was also shocked and prompted staff members to call the Police alongside the narcotics department of the City Police. The investigation is currently underway by the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Police Scotland. It’s been stated by the Linz’s drugs squad that the package was intended for Scotland.

“The originally planned cozy breakfast was quickly over and to the horror of the couple, it turned out that, though one of the packages did contain the two dresses, the second however had 24,800 Ecstasy tablets worth about €500,000,” said a statement from Upper Austria police.
