Float Fest Cancelled After Construction Delays

With a month left until showtime, Float Fest is now cancelled. The popular Texas event was still settling into a new home this year after persevering through various troubles. Delays from the court battles and permit issues didn’t leave much time for the festival build out in the first place. The rains however, are the final nail in the coffin. Details behind the decision of the event organizers are coming out now on their social media outlets. Check out the Facebook post here:

An outpouring of disappointment from Float Fest fans and attendees is still rapidly developing as this news continues to circulate. Mostly, expressions of disappointment, disrupted travel plans, or missing out on an artist. After all, the lineup included Major Lazer, Gucci Mane, Kaskade, and Zeds Dead. Besides that, many area festival heads are wondering what to do now with such short notice.

To be fair, Float Fest is doing the right thing here. A month leaves very little time for a festival of its size to come together properly. All the logistics would have to run perfectly, in simultaneous fashion. Considering the time festivals normally take for build outs, it is just unrealistic to proceed. The last thing organizers would want is some sort of Fyre Fest situation. So in cancelling, they’re doing the right thing for the fans.

Additionally, they are already starting a 100% refund process which is seamless for the attendees. With all the things going wrong with festivals so far this year, it’s nice to see event organizers are learning from past mistakes.
