Nicky Romero Declares that Progressive House is Back

Electronic music has taken all sorts of directions over the past 10 years. There were stages of trance, dubstep, trap, and arguably one of the most popular stages belonged to progressive house. During the pinnacle of progressive house in the early 2010s, EDM had just taken the world by storm therefore this was the genre most fans fell in love with.

However as EDM continued to evolve, many of our favorite progressive house producers including Alesso, Nicky Romero and many others strayed away from the genre. But now in 2018, with the revival of Swedish House Mafia, more than ever fans and artists alike are hoping for a return of progressive house. Nicky Romero recently posted a clip of an upcoming track on his Instagram story with the caption “progressive is back”.

There is no doubt progressive house was the genre that made me personally fall in love with EDM and I believe this is the case for the majority of fans. All we can do now is hope our favorite producers go back to their roots and produce those unforgettable hits once more.

Editor’s Note:

“Progressive House” in this instance is also sometimes known as Anthem House or Big Room Progressive, and is not to be confused with the Progressive House you might hear from the likes of Eric Prydz, Jeremy Olander, etc.
