Expect the Unexpected. That’s the big catchphrase for Ultra Music Festival’s 20th Anniversary and also supposed to keep expectations sky high for big surprise sets for the big year. We’ve heard endless rumors about Tiesto playing trance, Daft Punk, or even Swedish House Mafia. Perhaps the surprise is something more closer to earth. Enter Like Mike. Don’t shoot the messenger by the way.
So what are we to make of this? Is it really a coincidence that he would post the same slogan a week before Ultra? It’s largely expected that the Phase 3 announcement will come this week as well. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have a rocky relationship with Ultra as they are the faces of Tomorrowland. Things got so rocky that Hardwell was kept off the Tomorrowland lineup for 2 years, until his return this Summer. Could the hatchet be buried on both ends? Their last appearance at Ultra was during Steve Aoki’s set.
Theory
Perhaps Ultra will bring out all the recent #1 DJs for a mega-set with Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, and even Tiesto.
