FISHER and LAUREL Release Anthemic New Single ‘Staring at the Sun’

FISHER has finally released one of the most requested IDs of his summer. The Grammy-nominated DJ and producer teamed up with British singer-songwriter LAUREL for ‘Staring at the Sun‘, out now via CATCH&RELEASE.

The track first popped up in FISHER’s sets earlier this year and quickly turned into one of those unreleased records fans couldn’t stop asking about. It’s easy to hear why — built around piano-filled hooks and an infectious vocal line, ‘Staring at the Sun’ is one of those rare dance tracks that works as hard on radio as it does on a festival main stage.

LAUREL’s vocal is the centerpiece here, bringing her cinematic, emotionally driven songwriting style into FISHER’s world. It’s a shift from his usual house-driven bangers toward something more euphoric and emotive, without losing the scale that defines his live shows.

The record has already traveled with FISHER across basically every major festival stop this year, from EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Europe to Tomorrowland, Parookaville, Creamfields and Silverworks Island London. It even found its way into a viral clip at OMNIA Dayclub Las Vegas, soundtracking a moment of Kevin Hart riding a wooden horse — the kind of internet moment that only adds to a track’s mythology before it’s officially out.

The release caps off a massive run for FISHER. He just played Head Trip to a crowd of 90,000 as Under Construction alongside Chris Lake, and wrapped a second summer residency at [UNVRS] in Ibiza, where ‘Staring at the Sun’ became a defining moment across 15 Thursday nights. He now heads into two stadium shows at Forest Hills Stadium in New York City.

It’s also been a chart-heavy year for the Australian producer. His first three 2026 singles — ‘Rain’, ‘Favour’ with Tones And I, and ‘What A Life’ with Florence Arman — all hit number one on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart this week and landed in the top 10 of the WARM Global Dance Radio Chart. ‘Favour’ also gave FISHER his first Official UK Top 100 entry since ‘You Little Beauty’.

LAUREL on the Inspiration Behind the Track

Speaking on the collaboration, LAUREL explained the mythology behind the song: “Fish sent me this amazing beat a while back, and I knew I had to sing over it. I was feeling inspired by the myth of Icarus flying too close to the sun… To me, the song is about meeting someone who feels like your version of the sun. You can’t savour them, as it would be dangerous, but you also can’t live without them, because that would also mean the end of life.”

LAUREL is a British alternative pop artist and producer with a catalogue topping 340 million streams, built on cinematic production and confessional songwriting. She broke through with self-produced early releases before her 2018 debut album DOGVIOLET and 2024’s PALPITATIONS, the latter driven by ‘Scream Drive Faster’, which has racked up over 85 million streams on its own. She’s picked up support from Vogue, The New York Times, British GQ, i-D and ELLE, sold out headline shows globally, shared stages with MUNA, and played Coachella. Her third album, Crying on the Tennis Court, written and produced entirely by LAUREL at her home in Los Angeles, arrives January 22, 2027.

‘Staring at the Sun’ pairs big-room scale with an indie-pop sensibility, and after a full summer of fan demand, it’s positioned as FISHER’s next major vocal anthem heading into fall festival season.
