Justin Jay & Friends – Can’t Complain
One of Los Angeles’ finest, Justin Jay, has been making moves this year with an assortment of forward-thinking undertakings, ranging from his Fantastic Voyage Tour across North America and Australia, to his recently announced, eponymous project, Fantastic Voyage (The Album!). The young producer is taking an unconventional route to the release of his debut album by singling out weekly releases through different labels in order to bring individual attention to each of his tracks. His first single, “Weatherman”, was a brilliant introduction to the young Dirtybird producer’s effort to step outside his typical style and explore a new direction in his music.
Now, Justin Jay is back again this week with the second release off of his upcoming album and it’s a welcome treat to the ears. His next tune, “Can’t Complain”, which is due out on Black Butter Records, is another signature song from Justin Jay & Friends, a project that mingles indie-rock with Justin’s signature house music sound. With Josh Taylor’s vocals at the forefront, the track glides through an array of kinetic drum patterns bolstered by Benny Bridges’ heavy guitar accents, resulting in a smooth-sailing, evocative tune.
