2016 Grammy Nominations Have Been Announced

A Grammy nomination, let alone being awarded to coveted award, is something most artists strive for. It’s usually not their number one goal, but having that hardware on the shelf sure does help your bookings. Today, the nominations for the upcoming ceremony were announced, with Kendrick Lamar leaning the pack with an astounding 11 nods. Taylor Swift and The Weeknd came in second with 7 nominations respectively. Over the last few years, electronic music has finally been getting the love it deserves, with it being the only genre over the last decade to show any kind of growth.

There are two categories: Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Best Dance Recording
• Above & Beyond Featuring Zoë Johnston – We’re All We Need [Ultra/Anjunabeats] • The Chemical Brothers – Go [Astralwerks] • Flying Lotus Featuring Kendrick Lamar – Never Catch Me [Warp Records] • Galantis – Runaway (U & I) [Big Beat/Atlantic] • Jack Ü With Justin Bieber – Where Are Ü Now [Owsla/Mad Decent/Atlantic]

Best Dance/Electronic Album.
• Caribou – Our Love [Merge Records] • The Chemical Brothers – Born In The Echoes [Astralwerks] • Disclosure – Caracal [Capitol Records] • Jamie XX – In Colour [Young Turks Recordings] • Jack Ü – Skrillex And Diplo Present Jack Ü [Owsla/Mad Decent/Atlantic]

The Chemical Brothers and Jack Ü hold titles in both categories, Flying Lotus, Above & Beyond and Galantis had entries in Best Dance Recording with Caribou, Disclosure and Jamie XX having submissions Best Dance/Electronic Album. A little surprising that Kaskade nor Duke Dumont were not nominated this time around with their track record of being in the running the last couple of years. That being said, Kaskade did receive a nomination for ‘Best Remixed Recoding (Non-classical)’ for his remix of Galantis’ “Runaway”. Check out the nominees for the 4 major categories below and for a full list, head over here. Tune in on February 15th to find out the winners.
