Dr. Dre & Eminem – Forgot About Dre (Henrix & Adrien Mezsi Remix)
The versatile sound of Miami DJ and producer Henrix is a direct reflection of his multicultural city. With influences dabbling in hip-hop, indie dance and classic rock among others, each one of his songs have distinct characteristics that evoke a flurry of emotions. His most successful track to date, “Hit It”, features tribal sounding drums and is a collaboration with Digital Lab and GTA on Size Records. Now, teaming up with Los Angeles producer Adrien Mezsi, the duo is bringing it back to the old school with a dexterous remix of Dr. Dre’s “Forgot About Dre”.
From the start, the remix is dark and intense thanks to a menacing chopped up hip-hop beat. Eminem’s vocals are then piped in on a loop over a distorted glitch-hop beat helping to give the track a brisker pace and lighter mood. The use horn sounds, well timed high-hats and kicks, and deep basslines provide trap influences from beginning to end. Through this remix, Henrix exemplifies his musical reach by incorporating EDM influences and maintaining the hip-hop undertones of the original track.
