Bassnectar & Tiesto to Headline Jamaica’s First Dance Music Festival

As electronic dance music continues it’s steady growth as a genre – as documented via Google Trends – , we’ve seen promotion companies turn to untapped markets to further expand their brand, bringing new festivals to all four corners of the world. Heavy-hitting festival companies like Ultra and ID&T have expanded in recent years, with Ultra bringing it’s stunning visual experience to South Africa for the first time last year and Tomorrowland‘s counterpart TomorrowWorld making waves in the North American festival scene. Now, it seems the EDM takeover has spread to the serene paradise of the Caribbean, as Jamaica gets set to host what will be the Caribbean’s first EDM festival, Paradise Lost.

Taking place in St Ann along the northern coast of Jamaica, Paradise Lost promises to deliver a beautiful, immersive venue, as the setting is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and  ocean side. This incredible experience is further supported by a line up boasting names like Tiësto, Bassnectar and dub legend King Jammy, who has promised to unveil never before heard tracks in celebration of the inaugural festival. As the birthplace of both reggae and – surprisingly enough – electronic dance music, Paradise Lost looks to deliver on all aspects of the festival front while staying true to the reggae roots so prominently displayed throughout Jamaica.

With other big-name artists like Felix Jaehn and Big Gigantic set to take the stage at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove, it’s clear that Paradise Lost is aiming to be the biggest EDM festival in the Caribbean. Attendees will also be offered the opportunity to learn about and experience the vast cultural and musical history of Jamaica, with guided excursions to Bob Marley’s birthplace as well as visits to the Marley family tomb available. Paradise Lost takes place March 10th-12th, 2016 – right around Spring Break for all you college students – and will be surely mark Jamaica’s triumphant return to the dance music scene.  General on-sale for tickets is scheduled for November 23rd, but pre-sale registration for early bird tickets is currently open, with limited tickets going on sale between November 12th and 17th. Register here and be sure to check out the full website for more details on what’s sure to be one of the bigger Spring Break parties of 2016.
