Ruby Rose Blasts Haters & Defends The Legitimacy of Her DJing Career

As electronic music continues to grow in popularity, and profitability, it seems like everybody is trying to get it on the action, including celebrities traditionally known for other forms of media. However, everybody from the likes of Zac Efron to Paris Hilton have faced criticisms regarding their intentions and the legitimacy of their interest in the art of DJ’ing. Hoping to set herself aside from those critiques, Ruby Rose has taken to Facebook to defend herself against naysayers.

Rose exploded to popularity this year with her role on “Orange is the New Black,” leading some internet commentators to speculate that she is merely taking advantage of her newfound fame and the recent boom in EDM’s popularity. There is no denying that her career is booming; Ruby Rose is currently on a tour that sees her playing world class nightclubs, she has been on festival lineups that include Skrillex and Calvin Harris, and she’s being handled by Avicii’s manager. The gender-bending star denies the notion that she’s parlaying her newfound fame into a DJ career, and in her post she cites the fact that she’s been DJ’ing since 2009. Hats off to you, Ruby.
