Felix – Don’t You Want Me (2015 Turbo Mix)
Felix‘s popular hit ‘Don’t You Want Me‘ remains one of the classic hits of the early 90s’ dance scene. It dominated charts upon its release, hitting #1 on Billboards chart and #6 on the UK Singles Chart. Now, 23 years after its first release, the British producer has gone to give it a modern touch, with his “2015 Turbo Remix.”
Felix completely recontextualized the original from beginning to end. The new edition starts with an abrupt fade into an immediate intro of the song’s principle vocal clip, setting the stage for a choppy rethink of the original. Choppiness and vocal clipping indeed replace the original’s smoother, slower progression; instead of working on one theme over the two minutes, the new version ambitiously tries to play with more ideas, at the cost of slightly hastening the progression. It is the 2015 Turbo mix though, so perhaps this was intentional. Check out the original version here, and Felix’s reintroduction down below.
