Ryn Weaver – Octahate (Cashmere Cat Remix)
Opening his HARD Day of The Dead set with this new remix of Ryn Weaver’s ‘Octahate‘, Cashmere Cat surely brought some audience members into tears of pure ecstasy – hey, some of our EDMTunes writers admit to it. Brimming with freshness, the two seem like a perfect duo to feed off of each others musical quirkiness and this remix is testimony to that statement.
Rounding out the staccato bubbliness of the original ‘Octahate’, Cashmere Cat opens the song on the merit of Weaver’s vocals and then throws everyone into an unexpected pitter-patter of harsh synths. Surprising at first listen, the juxtaposition of the saccharine vocals with the barrage of starship laser-like drops was a bit uncanny. But as if Cashmere Cat subliminally came out and said, “Just trust me,” the seemingly odd combinations of sound quickly became a refreshing groove.
