The Crystal Method has played around the world and was one of the only real connections to the EDM scene for most Americans for a decade. 2014 became an even better New Year when the promo for their new album landed in my inbox. The album is quite good, like, surprisingly good and even more surprisingly relevant. The Crystal Method remind everyone how well-versed in production & composition they are. The guest spots by Dia Frampton, LeAnn Rimes, Franky Perez & Le Castle Vania (!!) are on point. I was delighted to hear a lush fusion of rock, dubstep, electro and the lightest dash of pop glitter. The Crystal Method is back, this is gonna be big. Check out the debut single video here.
While you start out thinking they’re late to Skrillex’s game, the tune progresses into some heavy melancholy with none of the transformer sound. Not only is the track dope, but the video allows Dia Frampton to roast the general pageantry of celebrity wonderfully. And all in under 4 minutes. They’re prepping for a tour & you should (hopefully) start to hear “Over It” on the radio this month.
