Armin van Buuren Releases Portable DJ System, Destroys Flo Rida’s Beamz

Quick on the heels of Flo Rida’s laughable attempt at carving out his own piece of the recently announced 20 billion dollar EDM market with Beamz, Armin steps in and releases the Phillips M1X-DJ, a scaled down version of DJ equipment he uses on stage.

This new piece of equipment looks like a portable boombox, with a dock equipped for an apple device.  Above the speakers, the M1X has mini turntables and a mixer.  The equipment is reported to be compatible with a number of DJ apps, will run for 5 hours on D batteries, and was announced for a retail price of $540 dollars, about 10% of the cost of full DJ equipment.

Armin was quoted as saying: “It’s close to how it is in real life, …Now it’s possible to have a decent piece of equipment, and actually learn how to DJ.”
