Daft Punk and Calvin Harris Get Outshined by One Direction at MTV’s VMAs

Each and every summer, there are a select number of songs that find its way to you, wherever you are. Whether it be during your brother’s graduation ceremony, while you’re shopping for prom at the mall, or during the annual road trip to visit grandpa and grandma across the country. A few songs come to mind for summer 2013: One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’, Selena Gomez‘s ‘Come and Get It’, Miley Cyrus‘ ‘We Can’t Stop’, Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding‘s ‘I Need Your Love’, Robin Thicke‘s ‘Blurred Lines’, and of course Daft Punk‘s ‘Get Lucky’. Unfortunately for EDM fans, ‘I Need Your Love’ and ‘Get Lucky’ placed fourth (57,649 votes) and fifth (42,397 votes), respectively; while the pop dream team was able to accumulate a hefty sum of over 8 million votes, catapulting them past all nominees to win the ‘Best Song of the Summer’ award.. In our defense, One Direction’s fanbase is astronomical compared to that of Calvin’s or the robots’. We’ll get em` next year.
