Submotion Orchestra – Swan Song (Kidnap Kid Remix)
There are few words that I can accurately use to describe Kidnap Kid’s remix of Submotion Orchestra’s Swan Song, so simply beautiful will have to do. An elegantly restrained track, never does Kidnap Kid seem rushed to reveal a huge drop to the listener, but patiently plays out his different melodies almost as if they were floating to him in a stream of consciousness.
Named one of the hottest up and comers in the UK, Kidnap Kid has produced official remixes for Disclosure, Emile Sande, and Rudimental, but is more so known for his ‘dark, emotionally-charged house epics.’ He incorporates stretches of organ-like synths, string instrumentals, and hums of what sounds like white-noise to concoct this stunningly haunting and surreal world within the remix. It’s not often that I feel it appropriate to compare an electronic song to a piece of art, but Kidnap Kid’s thoughtful craftsmanship of ‘Swan Song’ makes it difficult to think of it as anything less.
