For years, my friends and I have discussed where Tom stood in his career. Having spent over a decade refining his craft, he was already at a point where stepping up as a curator and creative director for new talent felt like the natural next step. Moreover, launching his own imprint affords him absolute creative freedom.

Every established label operates within specific pillars and boundaries; creating your own house is the ultimate way to manifest a complete vision without compromise. And as Marsh has proven across a ten-year trajectory, total creative freedom for him wouldn’t mean a drop in quality, things traditional labels “ensure” when you sign under them. Our boy Tom needs no such confirmation anymore.

His story is deeply interwoven with Progressive House. From his early days as a core veteran on Silk Music (later Monstercat Silk) where he released his debut album, to his defining era on Anjunadeep, his output has been nothing short of extraordinary. On Anjuna, for example, he blessed us with EPs, singles, two studio albums, and one of the most influential tracks in the label’s history: ‘Come Together’ with Nox Vahn—a defining anthem voted by fans as one of the standout tracks in the imprint’s entire quarter-century legacy.

‘Home’

With ‘Home’, Marsh opens another door to express his complete identity. What makes this track so captivating is how it deliberately steps back from the high-energy, peak-time, groovy sound that has dominated recent dancefloors. In an era where producers are constantly chasing the heaviest beat or the loudest crowd reaction, often sacrificing melody for raw energy, ‘Home’ aims for the complete opposite.

It brings back that classic, hypnotic, and deeply emotive version of Marsh that so many of us fell in love with. Built around a relaxed groove, laid-back percussion, lush wavetable synths, and that haunting, looped vocal mantra he’s known for (formants and all!), the track gives you space to sit back, pause, and just reflect. It’s light, inviting, and entirely unhurried.

Listening to ‘Home’ immediately transported me back to when I first discovered Tom’s music in 2022 through my best friend from Argentina, Rama, right before travelling to Buenos Aires to see him. Hearing this new record revived every single one of those memories and feelings I’ve got vividly attached in my head to BA and Tom in equal parts.

Yes, yes, and yes all over again! Look, things come, and things go, and there are times of highs and lows in our lives. Last year, we certainly had a slightly grim time when we got to know Guy J, the legendary Progressive House producer, was retiring Lost & Found, a label which saw the rise of many leaders of the Organic and Progressive scenes today, after more than 10 years and 100 EPs on it.

But today we have amazing news to share, as, even though the L&F chapter is already complete, Guy J has opened the door to a new era: The Early Morning era. A new imprint, with new ideas, similar concepts and feelings, and led by the mastermind behind countless records we’ve loved for decades. Truly spectacular.

‘Million Years from Now / Just Rain‘

How could you possibly launch a record label in style? Let the founder cast some magic onto your ears and heart. And that’s why Early Morning’s earliest release comes from Guy J himself, in the form of a double tracker, the ‘Million Years from Now / Just Rain‘ EP. These are no ordinary tracks, as they’ve been IDs for years, and finally saw the light of day as the kickstarters to J’s new path.

Both tracks are exactly what you’d expect from Guy J: minutes and minutes on end of pure happiness and fly-away, hypnotising atmospheres, textures, and patterns, resting over a groovy base, boomy low end (in the best of ways), and a general picture that is simply spectacular. In other words, the EP is a sort of music Bob Ross thing. I can’t begin to describe them in more detail, just because I can’t find the words to explain what they make me feel.

World Tour

The All Day I Dream 2024 World Tour is set to visit eleven cities across the globe, totalling over 25 shows which will prove why Lee’s vision to bring the magic to the dancefloor is a must if you dig the Organic House vibe — and also if you wish to try it out. The journey kicks off in Mexico City on April 20, then heads to the eccentric city of Dubai a week later, and then over to the City of Angels halfway through May. While on American ground, they’ll turn both the Brooklyn Mirage in New York and the Sculpture Park in Denver into a powerhouse of union, love, and melodic beats.

In true Summer fashion, ADID has decided 2023 had been too good to not repeat the experience, and will turn into residents of one of the hottest destinations worldwide for partying nonstop: Ibiza. Playa Soleil is the place to go every Monday for, not one, not two, but 16 weeks in a row (!) if you wish to have an unforgettable time on a heavenly island. Time’s no constraint to miss out on it.

Adriatique’s ‘The Future Is Unknown’ is a phenomenal start for X Recordings.

The release of the track provided the perfect start for the X Recordings label, especially since the duo has been showcasing their top-notch mesmeric project, ‘Adriatique Present X’, to the music world for the past few years. The track is a wonderful blend of melodic house and techno that Adriatique brought out and it shows why the duo of Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer still produce fantastic music for over a decade now. Additionally, X Recordings is not the first label that the duo has introduced to the music world. The leading-edge duo from Zürich had also released their first label, Siamese, back in 2016 and they followed up with the release of their debut album two years later, Nude.

Returning to 2023, Adriatique still make and release innovative tracks. In this year, the duo released ‘Beyond Us (Hatshepsut Version)’ with Eynka, a remix of Elderbrook‘s ‘I Need You’, ‘Desire’ alongside Marino Canal, ‘Miracle’ with WhoMadeWho, and ‘With You’ alongside Gordo. Furthermore, ‘Miracle’ got a remix by RÜFÜS DU SOL themselves as well. The release of ‘The Future Is Unknown’ and the introduction of the X Recordings imprint will provide that amazing conclusion to Adriatique’s 2023 and the future continues to shine even brighter for the two Adrians.

LP is back. And not only does she strike shelves and stores alike today with a hot single that highlights her savoury Disco-infused sound: she brings a new record label to the table too. Please welcome Yes Yes Yes, the youngest branch of the Defected Records family. Via the imprint, the DJ, producer, pianist, and now label head, will make sure to expand on her musical touch, both on her own productions and on those whose songs get a contract with Yes Yes Yes.

Yes Yes Yes

Remember the word “expand”, because you’ll hear it a bunch today. The first single of LP Giobbi‘s record label is titled ‘Time Expands‘, and it is a purebred record that has her name all over — more on that later. Regarding the label, though, she recalls the name Yes Yes Yes comes from a hippie gathering her parents would take her to. She says, “I grew up going to this hippie festival in Oregon called the Oregon Country Fair. My parents started going in their 20s and I have never missed it since the womb. It’s my favorite place on earth because it leans into weirdness, joy and mind opening experiences“. She further adds, “The first thing you see when you walk on site is a sign that just says, ‘Yes Yes Yes’ and it makes me smile ear to ear every single year“.

“This label is not beholden to one genre or one particular sound. It’s simply about good dance music, made for the dancefloor that expands your mind and makes you feel good.”

On that note, Defected CEO Wez Saunders also had a word about Yes Yes Yes. He comments, “Whenever LP releases or plays for the labels, the magic just happens. Our fans are super connected to LP, and as such I am sure they will be very excited about our affiliation with Yes Yes Yes“. And so, it’s easy to see the excitement about LP’s new label goes both ways: fans and producers alike.

‘Time Expands’

The song is a catchy piece, showing dynamism, colour and an overall aura only LP Giobbi knows how to craft. Enjoy a blend of the finest Disco elements, such as tambourines, tremolo’d sustained leads, a pointy analogue bass, and filtered guitars, all while on the dancefloor. Because, yes — or, dare I say, yes yes yes —, this track is made especially to bring all the vibes to the club, or festival.

The release also marks the first time LP has used her own vocals on a record. “The whole song came to me pretty quickly all at once and I thought it would be so fun to have a weird psychedelic message floating over the dancefloor and the repetitive groove“, she says.

The decision comes after Summit had discussions with OTG Campout and reached a peaceful resolution. Summit took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the situation and offer an apology to OTG; see the complete statement here:

“About the label name, I acted out of emotion and truly apologize for all the drama I stirred up by taking it to social media. I’ve been talking w the OTG campout team and apologized to them directly, but I also wanted to do so publicly. They’ve agreed to stop pursuing legal action & my team and I are working on a rebrand. In the meantime, to all my fans, please stop sending negative messages to OTG campout. I was wrong in condoning that behavior in any way“, Summit continued.

“All we want now is for both our communities to come together and be able to dance as one. I def learned my lesson from this, and from here on out, I’m going to focus my attention in a positive light so we can get back to releasing music and throwing fun parties. A few days ago we got the news that Guy J‘s leading record label, Lost & Found, would come to an end, after more than a decade in full force and frontrunning the Organic and Progressive House industries. Even though it was sad news, his reason to leave the project in this state was for people to remember it as a constant output of great music, which is quite reasonable: we’re often presented with artists or sounds which steer far from what we used to love about them, and we crave “the old days“. Guy J wanted to avoid this situation going forward.

The 100th release is, quite remarkably, an ode to the full circle. Lost & Found closes its doors with a new mix of Guy’s inaugural track of the same name. Furthermore, the AM Mix of ‘Lost & Found‘ was crafted by no other than the original artist himself.

‘Lost & Found (AM Mix)’

The AM Mix is a beautiful Ambient-Electronica take. Firstly, it got rid of the 4/4 beat, which, I have to agree, it’s lovely, but I do understand where this version is aiming. A completely ethereal spin on the 10-year-old ‘Lost & Found’ this track feels like floating on a cloud. The synths make you fly away into a world of nostalgia, and they even picture that painting of a happy ending.

There’s one predominant analogue synth which drives the song forward, and it sounds as though Guy J had improvised over the track, and that makes it even more special. A jamming session shows the true colours behind an artist.

The rest of the elements truly help that vision of floating, perhaps in a surreal world. There are hats, a wood block, pads, arpeggios, modulated textures, and an overall aura of finishing something and becoming distant. A wonderful piece, and a real tear-inducer ending for one of the best Progressive & Organic House imprints there’ll ever be.

The mighty Progressive & Organic House record label Lost & Found is coming to an end, per a recent Instagram post by Guy J, the legendary producer, and also founder of said imprint. The reason behind this decision seems to be he wants people to remember the label as something good, something extraordinary, as opposed to running the label long enough for it to change drastically in sound and fans wanting the former quality back.

I believe that things should finish at the peak to be remembered for their beauty.

Guy J further added: “In my mind I want [fans and producers of L&F] to remember they were part of something amazing, an era of magical music that brought people together“. It is clear he is not going anywhere, still bringing the same feeling of unity to the Organic realm. In fact, he left the door open for new projects he’s working on to see the light of day. One of them might be a new imprint, too. For now, we can only wish Lost & Found a deserved farewell, and even though the end came sooner than expected, it surely was a fun ride.
