Luttrell is back on Above & Beyond‘s Anjunadeep imprint with ‘Albanian Summer‘ as played on the Group Therapy 353 episode. This vibrant release chased his ‘Gibberish‘ collaboration with Ben Böhmer that was released over the summer.

“My new single ‘Albanian Summer’ encapsulates the good vibes of
Anjunadeep Explorations and brings me back to those beautiful moments. When I played this song at Dhermi, watching everyone dance like crazy, I knew the song was going to be named after Albania and that experience.”

‘Albanian Summer’ paints a picture of the calming and uplifting type of atmosphere which inspired it. Starting off, all you can hear is water flowing and birds quickly diving into a rolling bass-line. Having a rather progressive nature, the track builds through focal changes in leads keeping it fresh throughout. Overall, this adds to the vibrant side of Luttrell’s productions which are practically custom-built for bright outdoors.

Moreover, the artist put together a ‘Wind Down’ mix for BBC Radio 1 gearing towards the current release. On it, he featured some of his own music including ‘Outro‘ from ‘Into Clouds‘ alongside peers such as Antic, Marsh, Deeparture, and a few more.

Had a great time putting together a ‘Wind Down’ mix for @BBCR1. Some of my all-time favorite chiller tunes are in this one. Tune in live 4-5am GMT/9PM PDT!

Marsh launched the day of music with a set captivating my ears while setting the mood for what’s to come. Trailing, Qrion played one of the most memorable sets I’ve had the pleasure of hearing in a while. Getting to hear the songs from the ‘Sapporo EP‘ and the artist’s musical choices such as KH‘s (A.K.A. Four Tet) ‘Only Human‘.

Following that, I couldn’t keep myself away from the dance floor. Pulling through, CRi performed alongside his trusty synthesizers on stage. The home-town artist performed songs which can be found featured on Anjunadeep 243.

With everyone crafting memorable performances, Ben Böhmer and Cubicolor were certainly no exceptions. Both acts played live sets filling the atmosphere with infectious grooves. Luttrell even popped into Ben’s set which is no surprise considering the release of ‘Gibberish‘. The track is their debut collaboration which is out now via Anjunadeep.

Cubicolor performed many songs I was yearning to hear performed live, and I was left with no disappointment. They brilliantly presented some of my favorite tracks including ‘No Dancers‘ and ‘Dead End Thrills‘.

Before Luttrell took center-stage to close out the night, Jeremy Olander kept the floor warm. The DJ brought the darker and more moody music as his set traversed into a more uplifting tone. Moreover, he closed on a great up-beat and groovy tone carrying through to the final set. Closing the night up, Luttrell took the crowd through his spacious and warm music towards the end. In completion, we got to witness a wonderful moment when fireworks lit up the sky behind the booth. Anjunadeep’s Open Air event in Montreal will be in my memory for a while.

In its six and a half minute glory, ‘Gibberish’ introduces itself with a deep rumbling bass and kick. From that point, both Luttrell and Ben’s sounds begin to intertwine with the melody. Layering pads with a melancholic tuned vocal, the collaboration begins to take off in its mood-setting. Beautiful and spacious melodies envelope the track as it progressively introduces elements building onto the foundations of the production. Overall, it’s nothing short of the immersive soundscape which is becoming of both artists.

Luttrell is presenting this collaboration trailing his galactic and eclectic ‘Into Clouds‘ album which garnered positive attention. Furthermore, he received support from the likes of Kölsch, Lane 8, Joris Voorn, BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Pete Tong. On the other side of the coin, Ben continues his streak of exceptional releases cementing his prodigious stature. To add onto that, the German producer has established his own imprint, Top Töpferei. Furthermore, you can catch them both performing at Above & Beyond‘s Group Therapy Weekender on July 28. If you’re looking to check into their touring schedule, you can find Luttrell’s here, and Ben’s here.
