‘1800‘ (pronounced one eight hundred) takes its name from an imagined, toll-free support line, with Taylr Renee’s provocative vocals encouraging haters to “call 1-800-kiss my ass,” driving dance floor audiences wild with a catchy and self-empowering hook. Naturally, CID utilizes familiar phone dialing, ringing and number-not-found sound effects throughout the record’s energetic builds and addictive drops, playing up the single’s phone hotline inspiration.

Unsurprisingly, ‘1800’ quickly became a popular and in-demand ID since CID premiered the track last January, elevated by him often inviting Taylr Renee onstage to perform and hype up the track live.

CID’s upcoming show dates feature club performances and festival appearances across the United States and Canada. Given the continued popularity of ‘Fancy $hit‘ and immediate success of ‘1800,’ fans can also reasonably expect Taylr Renee to continue making appearances at some of these sets. Clearly, something about the pair just works, and audiences can only hope the collaborators keep teaming up.

The release continues a creative partnership between Kaskade and CID that spans more than a decade, following earlier collaborations such as ‘Us’ and ‘Sweet Memories.’ ‘Vision Blurred’ is rooted in progressive house, combining melodic structure with restrained emotional tension and a tempo suited for both clubs and festival stages. Anabel Englund’s vocal performance serves as the focal point of the record, adding a familiar and consistent tone that complements the production. Listen here.

Over the past year, ‘Vision Blurred’ has been a recurring feature in DJ sets worldwide, gaining attention through repeated plays at festivals and clubs. This early exposure helped build anticipation ahead of the official release and positioned the track as a notable addition to both artists’ catalogs. Its release on Experts Only reflects a crossover between established producers and a label that has quickly become influential within the current house music landscape.

The single follows Kaskade’s 2025 studio album undux and represents his first major release of 2026. For CID, the track adds to an ongoing run of club-oriented releases and continued support from prominent DJs, reinforcing his standing as a consistent presence in contemporary house music.

For those of you who don’t know VELD is one of the biggest EDM festivals in Canada. Held at Downsview Park, Toronto, this fest previously followed the two-day module. After the pandemic, when we were deprived of partying INK Entertainment revamped it into three days of nonstop partying. As if the days weren’t enough, they teamed up with the hottest names in electronic music for the afterparties. Multiple clubs hosted these to give you a vast choice to pick from if your quota of partying wasn’t maxed out during the day. The city was bustling with energy and I don’t about you but I definitely did not sleep! Read on for some highlights through the weekend.

The Venue

Since VELD is one of the bigger EDM festivals in Canada, to accommodate at least 30,000 attendees a day it screams for ample space. Downsview Park is just the right fight. It is located well near a subway line making it convenient for festival-goers to have a safe journey to and from. As you enter the Park you cross a variety of food trucks that are there from start to finish. It is perfect for everyone to relax between sets, and enjoy the famous Canadian poutine to veggie stalls, you name it and there is food for everyone. As you cross the food trucks, on your right there is the Mainstage.

The setup was altered a little this year. If you are a regular at VELD you would have noticed the shuffling of the Sirkus stage and the Hillside stage. I would say I appreciated the change in scenery. The sound at the Sirkus tent was better than ever this year. The one thing I do appreciate about this festival is the immense amount of space there is to dance. And then retreat and sit on your mats to enjoy your food, music and Finale fireworks.

Stand Out Sets

Let’s dive into this year being the second year Ink Productions hosted VELD for three consecutive days. For the first 8 years (before the pandemic) this festival was a two-day affair. I dig the new format of this spanning across 3 days. Who says no to more days of our favorite artists, dancing and socializing? This also helps spread out headliners and reduces the clashes we usually face at festivals! With Gorgon City, Illenium, Rezzmau5, Above & Beyond, Bob Moses, Dom Dolla, Tiësto and James Hype headlining, it is difficult to pick the top sets of the weekend.

Friday

The highlight for me was the Sirkus stage – the domination of Tech House was unreal. Gorgon City and Eli Brown engaged the crowd from start to finish. There wasn’t a minute of either of those sets that I could stand still. If you saw me, you would have seen the trance these two acts had on me. Zedd and Illenium had the crowd reeling at the Mainstage. The nostalgia I have every time I see Zedd… it takes me back to simpler times. The crowd singing along and dancing to classics like ‘Clarity‘, ‘Beautiful Now‘ and ‘Spectrum‘ was a great way to see the sun setting on a lovely Friday evening!

The afterparties for Friday included Zedd at Rebel, Matroda at Toybox and Sosa at Vertigo.

Saturday

Above & Beyond, Trance veterans returned to the VELD 2023 Mainstage on Saturday. This was their third appearance and have been playing at VELD since 2013. Obviously, that set was magical, with die-hard fans in jerseys, all the different A&B merch, and the unmistakable crying to the classics. There were shufflers with their choreographed dances, and honestly, the energy of that set, just like every other A&B set, was out of this world. Of course, we had a fan go up to the stage and push the button! All in all, a classic feel-good set by our favourite legends.

The much-anticipated debut of Rezzmau5 was what all of Toronto was waiting for. Two of the biggest DJs in our times performing together in their hometown was a ray of hope and inspiration. That closing on Saturday hit differently. We hope to see more of Rezzmau5!

Tech house fans were in for a treat with the likes of Jauz off the deep end, Dom Dolla and Bob Moses. Sirkus Tent was definitely bustling with high energy and a magical evening.

Sunday

The finale of the tenth VELD edition saw the likes of Tiësto, Sofi Tukker, and Timmy Trumpet on the Mainstage. The finale (Tiësto set), as always, was supported by fireworks. Sirkus was buzzing with Meduza and James Hype. We were saddened by Korolova‘s last minute cancellation, but CID stepped up to the occasion with an extended set.

The after-dark edition (APs) had the city packed. Fans had a difficult choice with Tiësto, Loud Luxury at Rebel, CID at Vertigo and Sullivan King at Toybox.

The tenth edition was a success and I had a great time. Can’t wait for 2024 as I am sure Ink Entertainment will be getting a bigger-than-ever lineup.

For those of you who don’t know, Piknic Électronik is an outdoor electronic music event that offers immersive and social experiences in a friendly environment, and is celebrating 20 years of operations this season. Located in Parc Jean-Drapeau, – the same site as îLESONIQ and OSHEAGA – Piknic attracts thousands of electronic music lovers every weekend all summer long. Sometimes, there are events like this one – John Summit – that are called OFFPIKNIC, which delivers special lineups.

The night started strong with MVNGO and Miss Dre, just before CID hopped on for an hour and a half of good vibes. The GRAMMY-winning producer was starting a big weekend in Canada, where he was playing the day after at Escapade Music Festival in Ottawa.

When John arrived, the energy went up in an instant. His charisma is undeniable, and everybody seemed to wait for his arrival to bring the party to another level. Starting his set with his collaboration with Guz and Stevie Appleton, ‘What A Life‘, the Chicago native continued his two-hour performance with a fluid blend of styles like he usually does, concluding the night with maybe the biggest song of 2023, ‘Where You Are‘ with Hayla.

All in all, it was an awesome night of music and a beautiful setup orchestrated by the Piknic team. You can visit their official website for the next events or follow John Summit’s tour here.

Stay tuned for more news!

The weekend promises to be a huge win for house music fans in the city as Chris Lake kicks off the Mirage season with two back to back sold out shows Friday May 5th and Saturday May 6th. And that’s just the beginning. Preparations are already in place for a huge month for the Avant Gardner complex as they welcome over a dozen acts. Check out the The Brooklyn Mirage’s most up to date list of programing here.

Last year’s top dog Vintage Culture dropped to number two in favor of David Guetta. The Frenchman finished second in 2021. Familiar names from the previous years also kept a strong position on the 1001 Tracklist Top 101 producers list, such as Kryder (3rd), John Summit (4th), Tiësto (5th), and Armin Van Buuren (7th).

On the other hand, some artists made very big jumps in 2022. In fact, James Hype (6th), Joel Corry (8th), Nicky Romero (9th), and CID (11th) moved up 61, 26, 23, and 49 spots respectively. As for new entries, big names made their way onto the list. Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia, Fisher, Anyma, and Hardwell are now part of the 1001 Tracklists competition.

1001 Tracklists also added a new feature to its initiative: The Future of Dance Fund. This fund will provide underrepresented dance music artists with funding, marketing assistance, and other support for a year. At the same time, the company shared its “Future of Dance” list, which includes 101 women and POC artists with the Top 101 Producers 2022, in order to advance change and empowerment. Obviously, this is a great way to discover talented producers that may not get the recognition they deserve.

Top Artists to Catch at NCMF 2022

North Coast Music Festival is set to take place over three days, running from Friday, September 2 – Sunday, September 4, 2022. It is slated to be held at Chicagoland’s SeatGeek Stadium Campus. With over 105 unique sets, spread throughout five different stages, you are going to have more than enough music to keep you busy. The official lineup has 50+ acts on it, with even more when you count the local, and opening DJs. Having said that, these are the acts we recommend checking out at NFMF 2022.

NCMF HEADLINERS

My first pick has to be the A State Of Trance legend & Armada labelhead, Armin Van Buuren. This will be his debut at North Coast, so with that being said, expect fireworks. For a peek at what he’s been up to lately, check out our Armin archives, here.

Another debuting act is that of Diplo. Known for his various collaborations, and recent venture into the world of house music, Diplo is in a league of his own. If you’ve yet to see the Mad Decent labelhead, this is someone you need to see ASAP.

Kaytranada is set to take the stage this coming September, and will be sure to bring the heat. Kaytranada just won the Best Dance/Electronic Album for ‘BUBBA’ at the this years GRAMMY Awards. If this isn’t reason enough to see him, I’m not sure what is.

Subtronics is another name that comes to mind after giving the lineup a lookover. While not a basshead myself, I can’t deny what the man has done for the world of dance music. If you want to get weird and wonky, this is the set to catch. With that being said, try not to break your neck!

Gryffin, Slander, & SVDDEN DEATH are all set to take the stage. If you’re a North Coast veteran, then these are some names you might not know. I say this, as this will be all three of their debuts. All different in their own rights, they each bring something different to the table. You can vibe out to Gryffin, sing your heart out to Slander, or get moody to SVDDEN DEATH — the choice is yours.

NCMF SUPPORT

As far as the supporting acts, go, there are four that stand out to me right off the bat. The first of these is Cid. I say this, as the man has some serious skills. While a seasoned producer in his own right, his DJ sets are some of the best around. Check him out – you won’t be disappointed.

Eli & Fur are up next. They are an electronic music producer duo comprising Eliza Noble and Jennifer Skillman, who hail from London, England. They are known for their deep, melodic progressive house music. Eli & Fur have been working together since they were in their teens, so the synergy between the two is unmatched. If this is your vibe, they got you covered.

If you’re into tech house, then Martin Ikin is the man to see. He’s been making some noise for years now, and is now bubbling hot. If you’ve been to any party over the last few years, I’m sure you’ve heard his track ‘Hooked‘. If not, check it out now.

Finishing up our picks for who to catch is Mitis. The last time we wrote about him was for his & Ashibah beautiful Remix Above & Beyond’s “Almost Home”. Known for his take on melodic bass music, he’s true gem in the scene. Check the track out, here.

North Coast Music Festival

Firstly, as stated before North Coast Music Festival’s 11th annual edition will take place from Friday, September 2 – Sunday, September 4, 2022. Secondly, it will be held at Chicagoland’s SeatGeek Stadium Campus. Having said that, the event is right around the corner. Lastly, if you haven’t secured tickets yet, now is your chance before they sellout.

Diplo & Miguel – Don’t Forget My Love (Joel Corry Remix)

You can add Joel Corry to the list of well-known producers that remixed Diplo and Miguel‘s ‘Don’t Forget My Love‘. The Englishman had the chance to put his own twist on the popular record and released it last week. This remix is, like the others, released on Higher Ground Records.

Since its release on February 11th, ‘Don’t Forget My Love’ has been accumulating streams at a very fast pace. In fact, it sits at nearly 40 million listens on Spotify at the time of writing this. Diplo and Miguel even performed the song live on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Joel Corry is the third producer to officially remix the record. John Summit did a techno version of the song back in April, which has over 2,5 million streams on Spotify. A few weeks ago, it was CID‘s turn to elevate the record to another level, with a groovy tech house version. Both artists are very popular in the house world right now, so it seems fitting that they had the chance to work on ‘Don’t Forget My Love’.

Joel’s version of ‘Don’t Forget My Love’ is a very interesting one. Even though the beginning of the track tends more towards the classic pop house sound that the DJ has accustomed us to, it shifts rapidly toward a tech house banger with very unique sounds and transitions. Recently, Joel played the track in his Tomorrowland Friendship Mix, and we will certainly hear it in many of his upcoming shows.

You can listen to Joel Corry’s remix of ‘Don’t Forget My Love’ below, or on any streaming platform.
