Flash forward to this week. Famous New York City hoverboarder and stunt performer Hunter Kowald just announced an exciting update – in the coolest way possible. Kowald took to Instagram to post a video of him hoverboarding over Times Square in New York City. The caption revealed that he was there filming the forthcoming track’s music video, which means the song must be complete.

So it looks like Kowald and his hoverboarding skills will be making an appearance in the video, and it’s taking place in New York City – potentially in Times Square itself. Still no update on the official track release, but we can now rest a little easier knowing it’s soon.

In case you are wondering, the song is far from the usual aggressive-heavy-bass-crazy-sounding type. However, it definitely feels good. Skrillex has shown over the years that he is not afraid to try some new things. Always experimenting around the large spectrum of subgenres, he continues to innovate with the release of ‘Butterflies’. Indeed, the track is melodically strong and bouncy at the same time. The combination of Skrillex’s ability to create amazing vocal chops with Four Tet’s melodic elements blends perfectly with Starrah. Altogether, ‘Butterflies’ sounds refined and clean.

Apparently, the track has been a year in the making. Four Tet explained the process behind ‘Butterflies’ on an Instagram post.

“We made most of this track in February last year while I was in LA and then in the last few weeks we got the arrangement and mix right”. He also talked about the appreciation he has for Skrillex’s work. “Working with Sonny and seeing his cosmic level Ableton skills in real time has been amazing and huge respect for how crazy good he got the mix sounding. So much detail went into this one. Feels so good to have it out there.”

The german DJ just dropped a new EP named ‘Butterflies‘ previously announced on his Instagram stories and Facebook post earlier this week. The EP features three tracks  ‘Butterflies‘, ‘Redemption‘, and ‘Sternengleiter‘ , all with the signature sounds from Boris’ self-coined genre “High-Tech Minimal“. This big release comes only two weeks after his previous one ‘Happinezz‘ which was also one month after ‘Gravity‘.

After months of waiting, we finally have ‘Redemption‘. This ID was Boris’ amazing intro during most of his last shows including his DJ set at “Cercle” and Tomorrowland W2. All three new tracks have very recognizable Brejcha samples and style. The dark and powerful kicks make the best instrument for the dancefloor. While some sunnier melodies in ‘Butterflies’ are added to give us a perfect release for summer (or what’s left of it).

There is no doubt that Brejcha is having a very busy year. In the middle of his summer tour around Europe and the US, the DJ dropped five tracks after a long time away from new releases. He also headlined at Tomorrowland, made his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, and is apparently preparing for an upcoming album.

Brejcha still has 60 announced shows this year around Europe with some few ones left on his American schedule. That means around 15 per month, 1 every two days on average. Adding this up to the soon-released album, we can fairly say that the end of 2019 is going to be a busy one for the “High-Tech Minimal” DJ.

Casmalia – Butterflies (Original)

With only a handful of releases under her belt, Casmalia’s diverse discography is a true testament to her production pallet. Releasing anything from groovy house tunes to captivating trance-enfused hybrid tracks, Casmalia never ceases to surprise. So when her latest tune ‘Butterflies’ hit the web two days ago, we were pleasantly surprised to hear her take on a more laid back and acoustically inspired track.

Quickly rising up the Beatport Chill charts with its downtempo drums and melodic lines , ‘Butterflies’ is truly deserving of its success. Its energy continues to build throughout the initial hook, and in its second chorus brings in an intricate sound design as the bass line evolves and turns in on itself. Not only that, but she chooses to display her chops by adding her own sultry vocal lines over the already impressive instrumentation.
