While Facebook is working hard to fight the coronavirus, it appears some changes are in store for the app. The Facebook Android app appears to be rolling out some updates for select users. There are reports that a new design is appearing with a bottom bar on Android, which might be an exciting update for many users.

Facebook has been allegedly working on a bottom bar for its Android app for a while. A recent addition was adding a big “F” menu button in the middle of the screen. This helps manage notifications, and showed they were working on new design solutions.

However, Facebook has been tinkering with a new design for a while both on mobile, and desktop. They rolled out a sleek new dark-mode for desktop and even a desktop app for messenger. That said, we aren’t totally surprised to see changes to the mobile app.

Facebook seems to be rolling out these changes at an important time for its users. Many companies like Facebook and Google have been doing their part to assist the fight of the coronavirus. Google maps has been helping identify when a local business tends to be the most crowded, and Facebook has been helping share anonymous data  to stop the spread.

Facebook was also caught testing a dark mode for messenger. While initially teasing the feature in October, it had a soft launch. Now the feature is widely available. To add the dark mode, toggle to the menu on iOS and Android and send a crescent moon emoji to someone. That’ll result in an animation with a bunch of moons falling down the screen. Dark mode will then be unlocked in your settings.

As Facebook has been working on a dark theme for a while, other apps such as WhatsApp still haven’t launched a dark theme. Hopefully an official rollout for the Facebook dark theme feature for Android users won’t be too far out.

“The centrepiece of any great party, this is one of the most-loved objects for all dancefloor lovers.”

Currently, there are over 2,800 emojis on your devices that you can scroll through multiple times a day. With that many emojis, it’s hard to believe they left out the disco ball in the party/celebration section. Currently, the only closest emojis they have are the party popper, balloon, confetti ball, and fire emoji which often get the message across.

If you also believe there needs to be a disco ball emoji added, go ahead and sign the petition HERE. With your help, we can get the disco ball added in the next IOS/Android update! As of now, there are over 1,100 signatures, close to its next goal of 1,500. When you’re done, let us know what other music/edm related emojis are missing from our emoji world.
