SLANDER and Nejvex are taking their relationship from mentorship to collaboration with ‘Booster Ignition,’ a new dubstep release through Gud Vibrations.
The track draws heavily from futuristic and sci-fi imagery. A cinematic introduction runs through a sequence of system checks and mission-control dialogue before the production breaks into guttural sub-bass, sharp synths and riddim-influenced drops. The aerospace theme remains present throughout the arrangement, giving ‘Booster Ignition’ a clear identity beyond its heavier production.
For Nejvex, the collaboration represents another step in a relationship with SLANDER that stretches back several years. The Czech-born producer originally caught the duo’s attention after winning their ICON Collective scholarship. SLANDER later continued mentoring him as his music developed.
That connection eventually brought Nejvex to Gud Vibrations. His five-track OUTLAW EP arrived through the label in November 2024, establishing a formal relationship that has continued to grow.
From Scholarship Winner to SLANDER Collaborator
Nejvex returned to Gud Vibrations earlier this month with DON’T BE MAD, a four-track EP released September 4. The project explores a heavier side of his production through dubstep, tearout and drum & bass, following two years of changes to his creative process after moving to the United States.
Experiencing North America’s bass scene in person played an important role in that shift. Nejvex has previously discussed how hearing bass music on large sound systems changed the way he approaches production, pushing him to consider how his records translate in a live environment.
SLANDER have also brought that relationship onto the road. Nejvex has supported select dates on the duo’s The Voyager tour, including appearances connected to venues such as Pacha New York, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and Echostage.
‘Booster Ignition’ now closes some of the distance between mentor and developing artist. Rather than simply releasing Nejvex’s music through Gud Vibrations or bringing him out as tour support, SLANDER are appearing alongside him on the record itself.
The timing follows a particularly active stretch for Nejvex. Along with DON’T BE MAD, his 2026 releases have included ‘BALOR,’ ‘EXPERT (VIP)’ and other material exploring the heavier direction present in his work.
For SLANDER, the collaboration also reflects the artist-development role Gud Vibrations has played alongside their own releases. In Nejvex’s case, that path has progressed from a scholarship and mentorship into EP releases, tour support and now a full collaboration.
