Standout Dutch tech house star Mau P returned to Brooklyn’s Army Terminal last weekend for a massive, two-night run of his Baddest Behaviour concept run by Teksupport.
Following Saturday’s open-to-close, Mau P couldn’t just play for a usual set time, and instead joined the stage for an announced-last-minute B2B with Joseph Capriati. The two displayed a seemingly practiced synergy with some unexpected, yet extremely effective song selections, including mixing from a hip-hop track into Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean.’
In his main set, Mau P played longtime hits, including ‘Tesla,’ ‘On Again,‘ and ‘The Less I Know The Better,’ while including deep cuts and IDs to equally thrilled reactions from the crowd.
The audience proved nothing could be badder than going out on a Sunday and matched the night’s energy with constant dancing, jumping and cheering. When playing one of his career-defining tracks, ‘Drugs From Amsterdam,’ Mau P requested the crowd shutter their phones and unleash themselves for the drop, leading to one of the night’s most memorable and least documented moments.
Through the evening, the now-iconic b_b face logo (which started out as a tiny sketch on a piece of paper) overlooked the crowd as the imposing centerpiece of a large, semi-permeable lighting setup and backdrop. Flashing lights, fireworks and pyrotechnics elevated the intensity of the music without stealing away attention and allowing for views of the surrounding area.
Despite the sudden reschedule, Mau P put on an incredible show on an unexpected Sunday night. New York City did the rest.
Though the New York run has come to a close, Baddest Behaviour isn’t over. Mau P’s Ibiza residency continues through October 7th, and a hometown Amsterdam show will take place on October 22. For a full list of upcoming club and festival appearances, see Mau P’s official website.
