Above & Beyond just released one of the hottest IDs they’ve been spinning around the world this year. Incredible. We all love them because of their vocal quality and how emotional their songs are, but they’ve also got this instrumental side that is absolutely mind-blowing, and we’ve just got another entry added to said perfect list.

Out Wednesday, ‘Major Drop‘ is certainly one of those tracks that will mark A&B’s catalogue for years to come. Just like ‘Mariana Trench’ did back in 2013, or ‘Walter White’, or ‘A.I.’ in 2016 (I believe it was released), and ‘Rocket Science’ a couple years later. It’s got that something, something that no other Dance act can deliver, just Tony, Jono, and Paavo.

‘Major Drop’

The boys had been, of course, marketing this track around the world and stuff. But even looking past the different banners and screen text built around its campaign (“Who’s ready for a major drop?“), the song really gets to you. So good. I’m so happy to see it released at last.

It was actually teased and mixed into the recent Anjunabeats Volume 17, and always presented as a track built for the dancefloor. Which, yes, it is built for club. It is built for high-intensity moments. But that doesn’t mean that the break isn’t special. And that’s what I love about A&B: the break is not filler at all. It is so simple. But it lifts you up so much and it builds this unrelenting, incredibly tense atmosphere.

The entire song builds you and gets you ready for the drop and, when it explodes, it explodes in your face. The title of the track really is right, this is quite the major drop. I had the pleasure of hearing it live in Buenos Aires just a few weeks ago. Good God.

Definitely do listen to this track. Major Drop by Above and Beyond, out now everywhere. Support it on your platform of choice right here. Be sure to follow our page to stay up to date on the latest news and views regarding our beloved Dance music industry.
