The world had been waiting for this one, and it’s finally here.
The wait is over. If there’s one melody that’s instantly recognisable in the world of Electronic music is Fatima Yamaha’s ‘What’s A Girl To Do’. Anywhere you go, any event you’re in, if you give the melody a spin, the crowd will go nuts. That’s exactly what has been happening in the Organic and Progressive House world lately.
A track that had been growing its reputation as one of the most requested IDs of the season, we learnt that young producer Yuvèe was behind this reimagination. And the question started popping up, “Will this ever get a release?”. Turns out, it did, as part of Luvstruck’s wave of new life breathed into the song. And the track is finally out.
‘What’s A Girl To Do (Yuvèe Remix)’
There’s one thing that a Deep/Organic track has to have in order to strike in the right way: groove. And this song nails that. Crispy percussion, bongos, background noises that glue everything together, a trancy pluck, warm basslines, and modular/electrical noises all play as a team to serve as the optimal bed for an iconic melody.
And let me tell you, this song has been fiddled with so many times in the past, that one just simply jumps into a new version feeling a bit sceptical, and somewhat expecting a flop. Not in this case. Yuvèe masterfully and respectfully places the legendary riff front and centre, pairing it with narrated vocals and the whole bed behind it. This song is a true spectacle.
And the drop hits in just the right spot. Wonderful job.
