Miami’s nightlife scene is getting another open-air destination, and one of the names behind Club Space is involved.
AIRE, a new open-air nightclub and lounge centered on deep, rhythmic and soulful house and electronic music, is taking over the former Boho Miami location in Edgewater. The new concept officially opens September 24 at 111 NE 20th Street following Boho’s closure after a six-year run.
Behind the project is Boho owner Jorge Moreno, alongside Louis Puig, the creator of Club Space, and Miami nightlife veterans Aramis Lorie, Travis Rogers and John Fortini.
According to AIRE’s official website, the venue is putting the focus squarely on sound, describing its musical direction as “deep, rhythmic, soulful.”
From Boho to AIRE
Rather than completely starting over, AIRE will retain the location’s intimate open-air setting while introducing a new bar, repositioned DJ booth, updated menu and refreshed design.
The biggest change, however, is the focus on the music.
Moreno explained that after six years, Boho’s recognizable bohemian aesthetic had become increasingly common across hospitality. The transition to AIRE gives the team an opportunity to evolve the space while shifting more attention toward the DJ booth, music and crowd.
The venue sums up the transition pretty simply: “New name. New energy. Same soul.”
House Music Takes Center Stage
AIRE’s opening weekend gives a preview of what’s ahead. A public preview featuring local talent kicks things off September 24, followed by Gab Rhome on September 25. On September 26, UK house veteran Steve Lawler brings his Pendulum party to the venue.
Beginning September 30, AIRE will operate Wednesday through Saturday, with programming ranging from collaborations with Miami collectives like Pitch Park and Afrotek to rotating promoters and established DJs.
Puig’s involvement also gives the project a direct connection to Miami dance music history. He opened Club Space in 2000, helping establish a venue that would become one of the most recognizable names in American electronic music nightlife.
Now, more than two decades later, he’s part of the team behind another open-air Miami destination—this time in Edgewater.
Miami certainly isn’t hurting for places to hear house music. But with an intimate outdoor setting, a music-first approach and some serious nightlife experience behind it, AIRE is entering the scene with plenty of pedigree.
